Another "Buckley" dial question
From the research I've done, I see the Buckley dial was in existence from the mid 1970's to the 1980's. Is this definite?
I see an older late 60's DJ, one owner (now deceased) with a beautiful vintage Buckley dial with even patina that really peaked my interest. The watch is dirty and crystal is hazy leading me to believe this watch was definitely well used. I'm guessing maybe the owner had the dial swapped at some point during a service? The watch is with the widow so it's not like it's changed hands and someone popped in this dial. It looks like it belongs. I know you guys don't have much to go by, but, I guess my main question is about the time frame the Buckley dial was introduced. Can it be original to the watch? An "upgrade" to satisfy the owner's taste? Thanks. |

Buckley dial pieces come with a pretty distinctive set of hands. If it’s original I’d expect the correct hands. Not sure if they came as original in 60s but if it looks fine it probably wouldn’t bother me to be honest.

Here's my 16030. All original since new, 1977. It's had 2 non RSC services and still retains it's original crystal as well. This was handed down by my now deceased father in law who purchased it new while on vacation in Curacao. 5.5m serial no. VB dated clasp..

I lost out on the auction. Tried with a bid at the end, missed by $200. Plus eBay was offering 8% eBay bucks or $100 on it.
Based on the bezel and the dial, it was not from the late 60's as the seller indicated in my opinion. It doesn't add up unless I'm off with my understanding of the features of various turn-o-graph references. Of course she was clueless how to remove the bracelet to get the reference and serial number so I can pinpoint what the story is. I'm a fan of the vintage turn-o-graphs and love the blue Buckley. So to have both in one watch was worth a shot and a unique piece for my vintage collection. Give the case, bezel, bracelet a good ultrasonic cleaning, and buff the crystal; maybe brush the top of the lugs gently, and it would have cleaned up nicely with that dial. |

Very nice inheritance, looking great and nice provenance. I have my grandfather's 1968 meters first 5513 Sub. He purchased off a guy who came in off the street into the jewelry store he worked in. My Dad just gave me his 1965 14k Omega Seamaster DeVille. Bought it in Amsterdam at the airport coming home from vacation in 1965.
