SD4K For YG DD 18038?

This might be crazy but would anyone ever do this trade? Thinking of doing this but don't know if its worth it? the Day Date is 39 years old? Are they still worth buying at that age? Or I could trade for a modern Datejust 41 two tone yg and steel with black face? Or should I just keep the SD4K?

Depends on configuration and condition. The 18038s sell over $10k quite regularly. Find one with a special dial or in pristine condition and I'd consider that trade. You can always find another 116600, but finding good condition vintage DDs are getting harder and harder.

I went double quick, but I actually like the taller case and raised crystal of the 18038 a bit more.

My bark modified 18238 from 1991 says hello.

If the DD was in good condition with very little stretch to the bracelet I would consider it. But the SD4K is a great watch so you can't go wrong either way.

I wouldn't, no. And I'm not a SD4k fan.

Wouldn't even consider it, actually.

Nope nope nope. Add the DD at some point, absolutely. Just please not at the expense of the SD4k. That said, if you do move on from it I am sure there are plenty on this forum that would be more than pleased to take it off your hands.

Understand the appeal but SD4K wouldn't be leaving my box.

A few years ago, I was a real huge fan of the SD4K, but I just was not in a position to get it at the time. I would have preferred it over the Sub, just for the fact they engineered so much into that smallish space!

I don't know about the DD for you. Have you thought about it might fit your lifestyle? That Sea-Dweller is a pretty nifty piece. I would keep it to be honest.

Cheers,
Carl

Yeah I know as aswell as the Sea Dweller being an unbelievable piece it is also very under the radar compared to a full gold DD! I think it’s cos I’ve been watching too much Sopranos lately and enjoyed seeing one on Tony’s wrist!

don't cut the SD4K loose. they are becoming increasingly difficult to acquire. should you regret the decision, you'll be hard pressed to replace it

I find a SD (or two) fit nicely with a DD. I've never been in the right place at the right time to pick up a 116600, but I love that watch too!

I'd go for the DD every day. It is the Rolex model and in YG .
The SD4k is not even close if compared

SD4K For YG DD 18038?

My SD4k would be the last one to go if I fell on hard times.
