One week and I am confused but delighted with my 15400

This thread may sound like the ramblings of a broken mind, but I am wondering if any have felt the same. I have now had my new AP Ro 15400 for a week, and am loving it more each day.

Maybe my brain was off the mark but in my thinking the RO was a sporty dress watch, and subconsciously I always thought of it as a historical 36mm watch in the same spirit as a Datejust or other SS dress watches.

I viewed the Offshore as the big sports watches in the AP family. Having worn the 15400 now for a week, and as you do, constantly looked at my 7.5in wrist I have come to the conclusion that the 15400 is closer in spirit and size to the ROO than a traditional SS dress watch.

This is not bad thing, but I have finally realised that this is a big watch on my wrist! The black dial has really gown on me which like all AP dials changes colour from black to silver to grey depending on the angle and light hitting it.

No scratches yet, and it has been on a mini holiday as well this week, so must be doing something right.

The 15400 does wear big. I used to have the white dial version and it wears even bigger. Its the more sportier version in the Royal Oak series.

The 15400 is a great reference. Enjoy it! Scratches are inevitable.

It wears very big indeed, I have 6.75 wrists and when I tried one on it was too big for me...

I would tend to agree with your observations.

From the pic you posted it looks fine on you, by no means too large for you imo...

It does wear big, like a 43mm. I think the chrono works better at this size.

I don't think it wears large at all... Looks snug on your wrist, are all the links in?

I have a 7.5" wrist and it does wear "generously" on my big wrist. But what I like about the 15400 is that it is not as thick or tall as the 42MM ROO and 44MM Novelty (which I ended up disliking and sold), and not too thin like the Patek Nautilus 5711/5712.

Funny after posting this yesterday my only colleague who is a watch nut, commented how is life on the dark side, he thinks it is hilarious that I am not wearing a "big watch." By the way loving it and it works well on my wrist, to your many posts it does feel bigger in many ways to my Aquanaut/Sub etc again for me this is in part psychological, the size difference on all is marginal.

By the way I am a big fan and have never owned a watch where am I liking it more every day. Rules are rules my love is always shared, any new watch gets 4 weeks straight wear then joins the weekly circulation. It is only up to day 8, so it will be a fight after a month to put it back into circulation.
