Is it a boutique only piece? I recently reached out to a dealer I've only bought one watch from before to that carries fpj to put me on the list for it. Although the list is pretty extensive he said he'd put me on it! Maybe he was just lying then?

It has certainly become harder to get over the past couple of years.
Yet to be seen how the future performance plays out however, this owner is extremely happy with the Chrono bleu.

I wanted one when they were $15k.. I waited and the price went to $19.5 so I got one.. it's a little dainty for me, but I guess it would have been a good investment!

I was recently speaking to a rep at the NYC boutique, who's worked for Journe for 10+ years, about this shortage (I'm probably 2 years deep in a waitlist).
He actually seems to think that a price increase is likely in the next three years. To more align it with grey market value.

Thankfully Journe offers the CS and they can be had for steep discounts like new. Buying a CB at secondary seems wholly unnecessary. To me anyways.

Initially had the same thoughts - deciding between CS and CB... then tried them on- CS 40mm just wore a little too big to me, whereas CB was perfect and the dial so unique . Worth it to pay over retail for me rather than wait a long time. One of only two watches I’ve paid over retail for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Geneva boutique told me approx 4 years (as someone without any FPJ pieces). That was about a month ago. I filled out the application and they put me on the list - which is maintained centrally at the manufacture.

Over 5 years in NYC now. It was under 3 years in June when I put my name down.

Holy smokes - application piece. Hmmm I have one and I was thinking of selling, maybe I might hold off and enjoy it.

Every brand is now copying PP/Rolex model. Intentionally limiting supply, create hype and everyone craves for it. Can't blame them as it seems to make commercial sense.

1. The masses caught wind of this watch and the hype began. A small manufacturer like FPJ can't just up production to meet the increased demand. 2. I heard/read that they had a big problem with manufacturing the dial, and had to throw away a vast majority of dials produced this year. Which, of course, led to scarcity.

I thought I read elsewhere that they were specifically trying to get the CB on wrists of new collectors and that new collectors had preference over existing customers / owners of FPJ.
This made sense as it would be in keeping with the original intent behind the watch and it's price point (it was conceived as the Journe for the younger collector, the gateway drug). |

FYI, i have been paying attention to the secondary values on the Chrono bleu, I have noticed in the last six months or so there have been many for sale adds that turned out to be scammers on this particular model. The watch is being offered a few thousand lower than expected and the f/s post is soon flagged as b/s by the particular forum it is offered on.
The ads have been on several legit watch forums and not the typical Ebay scam.

Really like the CB, but I was recently offered the Platinum Chronomete Souverain with the Gold dial for similar money to a CB, it was an easy decision, purchased the CS in platinum, and couldn't be happier.
If I could get the CB for $12K-$15K USD I may have been tempted, but the Platinum with the White gold dial, slightly larger size seemed like a big step up from the CB. Just my opinion. The CB is a great watch, but I try and not buy the hype, and get the what I love at the best price. |

I think they're both pretty comparable. With CB prices rising, the CS does seem like a smart alternative and the PR indicator doesn't hurt either.
Perhaps it will be similar to how the scarcity of the 5711 helped the 5167. |

With respect, and apologies if I am taking your post too literally, Idon't think the platinum version is a "step up" really as much as it is a different watch completely.
The larger case is only better for those wanting a larger watch. Personally I prefer the smaller case and in fact would even like a 38 if I could get one. Case size of course is simply a matter of preference. The rarity of the Tantulum case is one of the things that make the watch special. Sure, the Tantulum is not more expensive per ounce...just alot more expensive to craft into a case and buckle. Same is true for the dial. Very different styles, but the Bleu dial is alot harder to make. This is not to say the CS is a bad choice--in fact it is a great watch and different than the CB. Just my opinion when I had both watches in hand, the CS In platinum seemed like a more luxurious watch. The blue Dial is very cool, but I prefer the overall aesthetic of the CS. Not to mention the power reserve indicator, which is very nice to have on any watch. Again, I like the CB, and if it was offered to me for at like at $12k I probably would have gotten it, but the current market on the CS makes it very compelling. It just seems like a fad to be paying these high secondary market prices, in a few years tastes change and move onto the next hot thing. |
