All fantastic references. Super sporty. Well made. Can’t go wrong.

Beautiful Jonbut...will prices continue to rise or level off? I'm being offered a 5968 for 75K

Also the Aquanaut or a Nautilus 5726 for 50k? Which is a better buy?

75k is obscene.

From a investment point of view.....

Nobody knows of course but my feeling is that grey prices for steel aquanauts will continue to rise or stay at the same levels as now. At a minimum they will retain their RRP value.

The 5168s are still hard to get so should trade at a premium for a while. To me they’re are more fashion pieces compared to the more traditional steel models. So I think the big premium will disappear at some point. I would not buy at 75k hoping for a big rise. It’s 75k for an aquanaut and that’s just nuts. If you have lots of money and want to get one now then go for it.

They are watches! Wear and enjoy!

5167 prices have come off from the highs of the middle of 2019, along with the Nautilus. Though still high, much healthier than before.

From the dial to the tropical strap, the Aquanaut is iconic and can’t be mistaken for any other watch. It’s a great all around, casual daily wearer. It’s worn by a broad range of WIS and non-WIS people who appear to just want a quality daily wearer that’s reliable, a bit under the radar, yet stylish. I’ve noticed it on the wrist of Paul McCartney and only a few days ago on the wrist of American Pie actor, Jason Biggs.

I own the 5167’s more travel happy cousin, the 5164a. It’s a very easy watch to wear and slightly more interesting and beautiful IMHO.

As watches, I’d prefer 5164 > 5167 > 5968 because the travel time complication is useful and to me looks great. I think the 60 minute chronograph limits some of the usefulness of the 5968.

When you take MSRP into account I’d go 5167 > 5164 > 5968. For about $20k USD the 5167 is a classy all purpose watch that flies under the radar. Get the 1A version and you’ve got extra versatility of a bracelet. At $35k USD for the 5164, I’m finding it a little hard to justify the extra $15k USD (over the 5167) just for the travel time feature. After all, that basically buys a grey market Pepsi. Then adding about $20k USD to the 5167’s price for a 60 minute chronograph seems excessive. That almost buys a grey market ceramic Daytona.

When you take into account grey market prices, I’d keep the order 5167 > 5164 > 5968 and personally not buy any of them at those prices.

The 5164 is my daily Patek of choice - the 67 is great at retail not a dollar more. The 5968 is a solid reference - but I’m too partial to the 5980.

Great watches and amazing 1 watch collection material especially if you get the bracelet, rubber straps in each color, and some leather straps. That said a Nautilus and a dress Patek are also amazing. That said ALL Pateks are amazing.

The travel time function is the most useful travel complication and one that is immune to the usual non watch guy's 'why do you need a watch if you have an iPhone'. Much faster to tell local time than pulling out the phone ;)

i like the green strap. it has less of a car tire touch than those new aquanaut straps.

Aquanaut 5167A is a winner, it's clean. Orange is way off for PP. 5968A too busy

5164 in steel is my next target watch, I got to see one at a Patek event and no picture I’ve seen does it justice, it’s a piece of art.
