Everest band

I am one of those people searching for the perfect complement watch band to the timeless oyster. So I am forever tinkering until I find what works. I just got my Everest band in the mail today and i think it looks great. So far the first thing I have noticed compared to the RubberB is that the Everest is more pliable and does not feel as stiff. It has already formed easily around my wrist. Out of the box it is more comfortable. I am not going to compare it to the $20 rubber straps that you can find everywhere, while those serve a purpose, they are in a different league than the RubberB and Everest straps. Until Rolex decides to make one, these are the only two, IMHO, that are even worthy of being put on a Rolex for everyday use. I will have a quick review of it in a few weeks after I have used it.
Here is a pic of it on my polar explorer II 16570.

The endlinks seem to complement it very well.

I'm more a fan of the nylon zulu and nato straps. How quickly can they degrade and begin cracking?

Bergeon 6111.
I know there is a better one that is easier to use, but I am not sure of the number. The one I have works very well for all watches though, and you can also reverse the ends from the small or large fork to the round end.

Not sure how long it will take to degrade or crack.
I did find out from doing some research on the band that they decided to go with thermoplastic instead of silicon, or any other type of rubber. RubberB uses vulcanized rubber.
In October Rolex filed for a patent on a thermoplastic strap. Not sure what this means, but if Rolex is going to roll out a rubber strap made with thermoplastic than I think Everest made a good choice in using that material as well.

I think it looks good. I think it would look really good on a watch with a little more black in it...

I'm interested.

You are correct, IMHO It looks really good on a watch with a black dial. I had the RubberB on my 16610 lv for months and it looked incredible.

OP, can you please post a pic of the lug ends and clasp. I would like to see how it's integrated (the clasp).

Thanks

Icon14 Mine is cool

I have been using Everest since their first beta strap. I found the strap to be pliable as well and I used it on my GMT-C. The black strap compliments the black face and black ceramic bezel and looks like it belongs with the GMT-C.

I have a review here, and a follow-up review with their Thermoplastic strap here.

I have a DIY for Rolex strap removal here. PM me for any questions....

Insofar as a 16610, shouldn't be a problem...

I have two of them but I am still scared of taking the bracelet apart since I've never done it before.

Removing the bracelet does not scare me since I've done that many times. Taking the clasp off the bracelet... that is all new to me, so I am still debating.

There is a green one as well.

I will get some more pics up of the clasp as soon as I can, but in the meantime I have posted a video i found on youtube. I have a new clasp coming that i got off the bay (supposed to be like the glidelock), we will see how that goes when I get it. This way I do not have to take apart my bracelet. If this works, I will have a very high quality rubber strap (possibly same material as Rolex will roll out soon) and a high quality glidelock like clasp for under $200.
I recommend Sheldon's article on it for a lot more information, he listed it above. He did a great job reviewing it.
Check with the company on what models it will fit, but I am pretty sure they have one that will fit almost all of them. I know it will fit the 16610 and the 16570.
I also know that with the way they made the band, it WILL work with the glidelock on subc and the easylink on the newer bracelets and the diver's extension. This is something that the RubberB will not do and is a huge advantage for the Everest band. The only option for a subc with RubberB is the tang buckle. The Everest band is $135, RubberB $240. Why have the incredible glidelock clasp if you can't use it? I wish I had a glidelock to try it out on, hopefully another member with a subc that has purchased this band will be along and share with us. From the research I have done, the rubber is made to just replace the first 4.5 links of the bracelet, the back end attaches to the clasp and screws in just as it would to the SS links. So you can add or take away as many as you need (sheldon shows a pic of this above). The SS links you do use are hidden by the clasp when closed so you do not see them.

here is a link to a video i found on youtube about it. it shows the whole band and the diver extension being used on a 16610lv. hopefully it is okay to post links on here. If not, I apologize.

I am pretty sure it will work with a 14060 as the case is slightly thinner than a 16610, but not that much thinner. From what I remember between the two watches, there was a bigger difference in the bezel thickness. Nonetheless, call/email Everest and verify.

Yes, I can attest that the Everest works with a Glidelock clasp. I am using a GlideLock with the latest Everest Strap on my GMT C (GlideLock was from Puffy on the sales forums).

Recieved my Everest Band last week. Great product, great company. Had some questions and Mike, one of the owners, was quick to reply to my email, and very helpful. Fits well, ruggedly tested and made, and looks cool. I give this product a definite thumbs up.

Looks cool... Love the black strap highlighted by a black bezel and black watch face. Thought the watch was upside down for a moment...
