Patek Philippe October 2023 Guesses

Any thoughts on potential October 2023 new releases?

Nautilus variants disappear in stainless steel and reappear in white gold? Price hiked by £10,000 each?

5224 in white gold?

So far they have had one run out list per year which became public in the January/February timeframe.

I thought the new model line-up is delayed until next year?

The new model line is delayed to 2024 but there could still be one of two more launches this year (interview in June 2023)

https://cnaluxury.channelnewsasia.co...terview-236906

You mentioned at Watches & Wonders this year that you are working on launching a new model line, the first new line for Patek since 1999. Are there any updates you can share with us?

It will not be this year. I don’t have the time to launch it this year because we have too many things to do. But next year, there will be something. I can't tell you what it is, but there will be a new line, and it will be a cool one. As usual. [laughs]

What else can we expect from Patek in the coming months?

New watches, but otherwise, it’s difficult for me to answer because we always have different launches during the year. That’s the difference because in the past, with [the now defunct] Baselworld, there was only one watch fair and that was it. Now we have been adapting to a new way to do it. We still have Watches & Wonders in Geneva, and then there are a few different launches during the year. In terms of production, it doesn’t really help because the launches are still within the same year. It doesn’t make any difference if we produce in June, July or November. In terms of holding events and communicating the launches, it’s going to be better. There may be one or two new launches this year, but we will see.

There will be a launch for only watch - a special grand comp that will be made for sale to celebrate the birthday of Thierry’s father.

Yes. A 30 piece LE run. The movement will only be used for this watch and then retired forever if TS is to be believed.

I’m just confused by the moniker “only watch” for this watch, considering they are making 30 pieces in total

It’s a way for them to cover the R&D costs for the movement which will only be used for this watch. I’m sure the actual only watch version will be different (dial / metal etc) to the LE run

Have more sense to release a new 5812, not an upgrade of the 5712 ;)

Agreed but that’s what the London Salon told me yesterday, plus they’ve updated the description for the clasp on the website

Good info, thanks. Game changer for the 5712a which was outdated. Now my favorite Nautilus and the one I will go for next.

Not that my opinion matters at all, but I wonder if I'm the only one not thrilled with the newer Patek clasp update that they've started to fit on Aqua/Naut models...

I had a 5164a that I worshipped with the older style clasp and was so comfortable, then earlier this year got a new one with the newer clasp update. Couldn't get it to feel comfortable even going larger on the strap sizes, there is now a small bulge on the inside of the clasp to house the locking mechanism that just kept me noticing and feeling the watch on the wrist, versus the old style clasp being fully flat and flush to the wrist.. ended up moving it for another 5712a that I'm back in love with and so comfortable

New clasp definitely looks better, feels a bit more secure in opening and closing, and maybe Naut version will have an EZ link extension, but this nobody prefers the older style clasp!

PS good catch on the website, the description is updated to reference a new clasp with adjustment system

For Philippe Stern's 85th birthday in November, Thierry and Patek Philippe will be producing a 30-piece limited edition wristwatch with Philippe's "favorite grand complication, which will feature an entirely new movement. This movement, designed and produced exclusively for this tribute watch, will never be used again." The first watch from this limited edition will be produced with a unique Only Watch design and auctioned on November 5.

=====================

Favorite grand complication? My guess is a new PCC. A new PCC movement to replace the CH 29‑535 PS Q would be timely.

I imagine it would appear like previous years around the 14th-18th of October (18th is a wednesday).

They postponed their new line because "they are busy" but I didn't find they had so many novelties presented this year. Will the Gondolo anniversary be celebrated now (1993-2023)?

It's usually a period of many gem-set and Nautilus/Aquanaut variants.

I wouldn't say no to a new Perpetual Calendar only (5327 successor, even though we didn't have the P version yet).

Thanks for the link :) It seems the movement will be unique so I doubt it will replace a 29-535. Furthermore, I doubt they will replace such an advanced caliber after only a 13-year period.

A PC would be more likely. I'm looking forward to seeing that!

All of that makes very little sense to me. So much time, effort and cost goes into making a new movement. And for what, a 30-piece LE. This from a company which re-cases the same movements across the lines.

Isn’t the father's favourite watch the 3940? A new LE of that with new movement would be special.

Pretty sure this is the guy who photoshopped all the Rolex “leaks” and not a single one was real.
