Vintage Bracelet conundrum... thoughts welcomed

So i just purchased a 6636 C&I USA Rivet bracelet for my '68 tudor sub. The bracelet is from 1970 and in quit some amazing shape for it's age. With that said though, the end links do not sit firmly between the lugs (you know how older bracelets can have a bit of play..) Well i tried to make them a little wider... this didn't help. My feeling is that the more a bracelet moves at the lugs the more wear on the precious writing there... and thats no good.

Heres the other thing. The bracelet is too big for my small wrists... so I would need to have a link removed. I'm not sure it will be worth doing all of this hence my considering selling it and finding a more modern band. Still i love trying to keep things period correct.... AND this band has VERY LITTLE flex. Its in pretty good shape overal... I just don't know what to do. Keep it and get a link removed and try to get end links adjusted... or sell it and move on in my search of perhaps a 7206?

Thoughts would be appreciated! I'll post some photos below.

C&I bracelets do not have part numbers on the clasps or end links. You might have one that was put together from other bracelet parts.

Since the endlink-play does bother you, I would suggest selling this one and looking for a 9315 with 380 (fixed) or 280 end pieces. It is still period-correct and should be a better fit between the lugs.

It doesn't... i was just told that a C&I bracelet is a 6636... Perhaps not?

I like the rivet. I have all 3, a rivet, a 9315 and a 93150. Both of the first 2 have more play in the endlink area. If you want a better fit you may need to go to a 93150. I happen to like the loose feel and I don't think, unless you are very active when you have it on, you will experience to much wear of the SN or model #.

What size wrist? I have a nice C&I (78) but it is a link or 2 short for my (not) dainty wrist.

Ugh my wrist is small.. maybe 6 and 1/4 inches... It has 11 links on it now.. i would need to take one out of the 6 o'clock side should I decide to keep it.


Re: Serial number wear issue... i may have a solution to my worry... Doing some research now and will keep you all posted. If my idea works... this will be BIG!

Also, re play/movement in the end links... you folks notice that the 9315s have a lot of movement also? IS there any remedy out there for making them sit tighter?

I guess it depends on the watch, but this 9315/380 on my 5513 is very tight.
