This video pissed me off for a number of reasons:

1) The salesman is very obnoxious

2) Although michael can afford to pay whatever the salesman asks the prices he paid for the watches weren't good enough for such a long term customer or a customer who is buying 150k worth of watches at once. No deal was had. No substantial discount was given. This is partly because michael is a bad negotiator or he just didn't care.

3) Get a f**kin piece of paper and pen and write down the price for each watch and add them with a calculator. Dont do it in your head and come up with different sums each time with a disgusting grin on your face. Its disrespectful.

4) When michael asks to pay 20k for a watch he likes after having just spent 150k you f**king sell that watch to him for 20k.

This guy is a terrible salesman and did not deserve michaels business. Ok I am done. Felt good to rant.

That's a quality rant. Glad you enjoyed it!

I fully agree with all of your points. When he said "let me think about that" at the end, I could not believe it!

First off both guys seem fair enough. The seller is actually the owner and the buyer made a private appointment.

Some prices that were quoted are silly high, but one block off Rodeo Drive is still high rent. Want a better price? Then go TRF!

As for the deal-making, yeah a bit Helter Skelter- but consider this: We care about precise deals and might argue about a clasp code matching the case’s serial number - but in the scheme of things for the buyer - compare it to buying kid toys at FAO Schwartz.

One thing I noticed - every watch the buyer tried on barely got over his hand. The seller has clearly removed links to maximize his net profit...yeah, you got a big wrist - I’ve got extra links...

Well the only way to have extra links for some of those blinged out bracelets is to have removed them in the first place.

its on vid, i am sure nothing is scripted or prearranged. :rolleye:

and i don't know why its interesting to watch other spend people? I care neither about him, nor his ability to spend his own money.

But for some reason I can watch John Mayer talks about IWC BP :D

Huh....black dial 116520 Daytona more sought after than white according to the salesman.

Wow, I don’t know which person pisses me off more. The idiot over paying for watches or the horrible salesmen giving zero discount to an amazing customer.

I can’t watch that guys videos. Who the hell buys a bunch of used watches as gifts for executives. I don’t think he has very good taste either to be honest.

He made a series of videos about his watch collection, you can start here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2kNO61cjfo to have an idea of what his level of knowledge (actually not too bad) and his ratio of 'taste vs money' are :). He certainly has a lot (!) including some great ones, but the man does like his bling.

My preconceived notions about flashy, LA Hollywood-types had me negatively judging this guy before I even clicked play. But, I must say, he seems like a very genuine and nice guy.

His style, and watch tastes, aren't really my style. But, whatever makes him happy.

5 zenith Daytona's and 5 116520 would have been the way to go.

imagine being the exec getting a gold after market diamond whatever and the entry guy getting a SS daytona

Seths handshake says it all.

You are doing something right if you have a watch store like that or can spend money like that, but I think my head would explode if I was in the room with either of those guys for more than 5 minutes.
