What Rolex has a "12" on the dial?

I was in a meeting and saw a person with what looked like a sub, but it had something that I thought might be an explorer dial. I realized that it had "12" at the twelve o'clock, which I've never seen.

I saw the watch from a distance and didn't get a close look but it looked like a matte dial, but it didn't look ultra vintage like the old explorer dial subs.

What could it have been?

What made you think it was a Rolex? There's a million watches out there that look like a Sub.. Obviously not a Sub or an Explorer if there's 12 on the dial. Sub dials always had same style dial since 1953, so not sure what you mean by "old explorer dial subs".

the only Rolex I can think of that has the number "12" on the dial is the 1950s bubbleback

Doubt it was a Rolex. There are lots of other watch brands out there, and many draw heavy inspiration from Rolex.

Longines do a sub-ish steel watch with a large 12! Maybe it was that.

Yes, could be a Longines Hydroconquest.
They're recognizable by their crown guards and PCL

Obviously this one couldn’t be mistaken for a sub, but since you raise the matter of Rolex 12s ...

Came across this one, doubly unusual — For both the presence of the 12 and for the pyramid hour indices.

Oops, notifications somehow got turned off. It's sounding like it probably wasn't a Rolex, but wanted to ask here to see if maybe I'd seen something unique :)

BTW, this is what I meant by explorer dial sub (but as you can see there's only 3-6-9, no 12): https://deployant.com/wp-content/upl...-1409x1080.jpg
