The power of a trf thread. Love it. Wonder which ice blue dial is more popular. Romans or this one?

Congrats! Pics looks amazingly. You are really good at capturing the brilliance of Platinum, be it on a DD40 or the 5170P

Congrats!

Despite being the same metal and having similar dial colors these watches have completely different wrist presence. At the same time, they are both sporty and also dressy.

I think they can co-exist in a collection, but I would agree with your decision if selecting one. The DD40 PT is just a KILLER watch.

I hope you enjoy it for many years to come! I've recently added the quadrant dialed piece back into my collection and love it.

The Platona is a very heavy watch, but wears really nicely. It wears bigger than the steel models. It has great wrist presence. But at the end of the day, I lost interest in it. In part because I just got a Patek 5170p, and that is far and away my favorite watch. The 5170p is also a chronograph and platinum, and despite the two being totally different, I kind of lost the lust for the Platona. And 2 1/2 years ago when I bought the Platona, I really struggled in deciding between it and the DD40 platinum I just bought. So in the end, I got to enjoy the Platona for 2 1/2 years, but its residual value went towards the new DD40, and I will get to enjoy the DD40 for years to come.

Both are great, but the sticks won out. Here’s a pic of both I took a few years ago.

Completely agree they can coexist in a collection, but it wasn’t to be for me. I added a different chrono last month, which was part of the reason I let go of be Platona. The DD40 compliments the new chrono better, IMHO. Thanks again for your kinda words.
