Had a SS Datejust as my first, traded it for a Speedmaster.
No regrets.
Still work with the guy I traded with from time to time. I do have first dibs if he decides to sell it though.

Feel sick every time I think about it.

It was a GMT Pepsi. I get bored easily & like to change things up but looking back I wish I'd kept it.

Same with my Sub date. Paid £3600 brand new in 2007'ish pretty much double that now.

I have a polar explorer that was purchased new several yrs ago. It was my first rolex and likely be my last. I will also never sell it. I just don't care to as it was a gift from my wife. And I don't like other rolexes enough to sell the polar. I like other watches that aren't rolexes but i wouldn't sell the polar to get them. I am trying to sell other watches.

Looking back it's not what I'd want now (116000). I doubt it would get any wrist time.

I flipped an 07 Sea Dweller and added cash to get a BNIB AP RO for $11,300. I’m feeling pretty damn good about that decision.

Haven't sold one yet.

Thought about selling one a couple of months ago but my son talked me out of it. And I'm glad he did!!

I'd sooner be buried in my 16550 than sell it.

I sold mine -- a 126600 -- and have never looked back. It was too big for my wrist, I stopped wearing it, so I sold it. That being said, my first "real" watch is a Speedy Pro, and while I hardly wear it anymore, I'm definitely never getting rid of it. If there's sentimental value that you think you'll miss, maybe keep it, but otherwise, I wouldn't worry about getting rid of it and repurposing the money toward something you like more.

I tend to churn out other brands from my collection. The only Rolex I ever sold was in the 90s and, that was only because at the time I was a one watch guy. I bought a Daytona Zenith with the money.

the first Rolex I sold was a SS White Daytona here on TRF cause I just could not read the dials as my eyes are bad. later tired a SS Black Daytona, the same thing and sold it also. no regrets and won't buy Daytona again.

Interesting as I sometimes feel mine is also a tad too big at times. However it was a present from my wife so it's not going anywhere...... Unfortunately

I have regretted selling every Rolex I have sold and never regretted buying every Rolex I bought. Some times I regret having to many and some times I regret not having enough.

I’d agree that if you own 1 Rolex, Sub much more enjoyable than Explorer. But once you do get the Sub, there are very few better combinations then Sub / Exp. I’d hold out and save. If you are impatient like I was, flip and enjoy your sub!

Exactly the way I feel today, totally different at the time (over 30 years ago) since I was “upgrading”.

The government made me sell my Daytona when creditors came calling during the 2009 crash.

I’ve gotten another but will never get back my first Rolex.

Don’t do it.

My first Rolex was a 2004 explorer II and no regrets selling as it didn't have a factory crystal.

Fast forward to present day and I won't be letting go any pieces in my collection barring absolute necessity! They were just too hard to get and loved acquiring them.

sold my first, was a 16570 explorer II polar. I don't regret that one. I don't think I would sell my first nice watch, a speedmaster pro.

Never will sell my first one, an X-serial Air King that my dad bought in January 1995.

Having said that, everyone is different and there is nothing wrong with moving a watch along to fund another one. I just am not one to do it

We change over time and so does the watch we like or want. You probably sold your first car for something better. Whatches are no different. I think th biggest question really is: do we need more that one watch?

I’ve sold / traded many watches over the last 10 yrs. While I do “miss” some, I have zero “regret”. If it was a gift or I had some sentimental attachment, I’d keep the watch at all costs, but I’m just not very sentimental about what I buy for myself.
