Take care where toy store your watch after you take off, family sometimes are curious and do not care like us a wristwatch.

I’d have the crystal repaired, I could probably live with the bezel as is. Sorry to see, hope you get it sorted

You own a great watch and sorry it is damaged. Go get it repaired by the RSC and go on with it. I would say you came into contact with a diamond or other ultra hard stone to do that kind of damage.

Those are too visible to me. I'd get the crystal and bezel replaced.

Well well. Turns out the ceramic is not invincible as many here had suspected. I think I’ll stick with my aluminum insert in my sub and ss on my Daytona. As I have said before no functional improvement with the ceramic. The scratch resistance is offset by 1) cost and 2) failure.

Unfortunately as these posts come out they really fuel the is it safe threads and I can see how folks are really starting to treat these as jewelry and not so much as tools.

As I said I am in the camp of wear and enjoy your watch and try to live with the resulting dings and scratches.

However - yesterday on a beautiful sunny day, every time I looked at the watch the sun was magnified through the chip (which is definitely a chip and not a hole) leaving a really large shadow on the face, so I have decided I can’t live with the crystal.

For anybody interested, I Just called RSC London and they quoted £121.62 plus fitting (Total = £191.62)

I can live with the bezel but asked out of interest how much to replace
–just under £1100!!!!

Wow - the crystal replacement is reasonable. I would fix that. The bezel I would leave as is.. it's not that bad and you can have it replaced at later time (perhaps with service in future)

My thoughts exactly, I don't know how much the crystal would be but I'm sure I read somewhere that the ceramic is £800+ but that was for my Blusey Sub

Some enterprising type is going to figure out a way to repair these chipped ceramic bezels. Ceramic does chip; it's not a super material or something.

Bummer. I'm surprised you don't know how the damage happened.

Ceramic scratched-flaked -chunk

I just received a my green sub back from the insurers and they have replaced the SS bezel with the ceramic one and within one month this has already happened. It's like it has flaked chipped off. I believed these to be hardier than the SS but doesnt seem the case.

That is an aluminum insert, not a ceramic insert.

That poor Daytona! You must be pretty hard on your watches for that to happen.

Update.

I couldn't live with the crystal - so sent it off to Rolex via my AD.

Received it back today (just under a month turnaround) and it's like the excitement of getting a brand new watch!
