Best 1963 birth year Rolex
What are the thoughts here on what might be the best 1963 birth year Rolex? Of course, it happens to be the first year of the Daytona, but alas that's out of my price range. So, thinking more like subs and GMTs because I'd like to stay with a somewhat larger case size vs. DateJust.

That's a beauty! What do you think about the case size of the 1675? Does it seem a lot smaller than 126710? I have a BLRO, so trying to get a feel for size.

I would also like a 1963 watch, but I think it would have to be a Submariner.

1963 is a great year for underline and exclamation point subs and GMTs.

I'd personally go with something that had minimal complications and preferably no date.
Many watches that old have no quickset. I know that unless it was my ONLY watch I wore daily, having a 1803 DayDate would be a HUGE pain to set.

What does one need to spend to get a good example of GMT Master? 5513? 5512? Thanks!

Being a '63 vintage myself, I'm a little surprised that someone my age would really care about the birth-year nonsense. Don't we usually see this from the youngsters?
But a little more seriously, since the OP doesn't appear to be particularly knowledgable about vintage Rolex, his best bet is to budget an extra 50% on top of normal market pricing, and contact some of the top dealers. $45k-$50k ought to do it. Then when he gets his watch, he should never ever post it here. Too risky. Ignorance is bliss.

I was surprised when I got my 1675 and compared the height profile to my 5513. It's a whole different experience. The 1675 is sleek AF. |
