Enablers welcome - Panda 26331ST

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the panda 26331ST ever since seeing it in the London boutique earlier this year. In my opinion, it’s one of the best dials on the market, and with 15400ST prices moving into the low $20k’s, it almost seems like a no brainer. I’m not particularly fond of the 15500 and my ultimate grail is a 15202. As a first AP, do you think I’ll have any regrets starting with a ROC?

Obligatory wrist shots...

I think the 26331st is a gorgeous piece; you will not regret it. I was looking to purchase a 26331st but ended up getting a 15400 as I thought AP may introduce an in-house movement this year. Clearly I was wrong in the assumption around the movement. Now, I wish I had purchased the 26331 instead. Assuming they don't increase prices, I will pick up a 26331 in coming months.

So I was thinking of getting the blue dial 26331 as an entry point into the brand, hoping that I could use the purchase to step into a 15500 or eventually a 15202. I’m completely happy with the chrono, and as of now, I’m keeping it, with no desire to trade for one of the others!

Congrats! This watch is just incredible!

I love mine. I’ve owned the 15400 white and it did nothing for me. But I really dig this one.

I’m very impressed with this watch. I was looking for a white/black panda and, was considering another Daytona. After a little research, I bought this piece a short while ago. To be honest, the attention to detail, finish and overall design is way above any other watch in my collection.

Go for it. Great watch in my opinion. My first AP was a 26300 (39mm ROC) and I really enjoyed it

Same here, my one and only AP (currently) is the 26331 blue/silver and absolutely love it.

Thanks everyone for the responses! Overwhelming consensus shows lots of love for the ROC, so I think I’d feel good about breaking into the brand with one. Hopefully can post an incoming in the near future.

I think you should go for it, looks good on you. It can be a watch that makes you forget about the 15202. It feels much more substantial and has more writ presence.

Excellent choice. The blue dial gets a lot of love, but in the flesh the silver/panda is my top choice.

blows my mind that this trades for the same as a daytona. I still kick myself when the 39mm chronos were going for less than the 116520. this watch wasn't on my radar at all, and now its got me thinking......

I just picked one up today. Was cruising by the NYC boutique and they had one available so I grabbed it. It is crazy these trade for about the same price as the new Daytona. Fit and finish are beyond description.

Looks great on you. The only negative I can think regarding the 26331 is the closed caseback and that the movement isn't inhouse so it might potentially be replaced soon by next year by AP with their new inhouse chrono movement. That said, the F.Piguet movement in the 26331 is excellent and proven movement.

Damn that panda dial looks good, even when I already got the blue.

Throw in a pic of my blue ROC for comparison.

I agree with all of your points, however I imagine a reintroduction with in-house movement and display caseback will come with quite an uplift in price, not to mention demand, which could make it difficult for a first time buyer like myself.

Thanks for sharing the pic! That blue is special.
