FWIW, my salesperson told me that I told/showed him a few things during our free conversation that convinced him to go to bat for me/sell to me:

1) I am a local. I live about 12 miles from the AD. He said he gets 20 calls a day from other areas from people wanting to buy watches and wire them money. They only want to sell to locals.

2) I’m a watch guy. Even though I thought he had nothing in stock, we shot the breeze about brands, models & movements.

3) I was clearly not someone interested in flipping a watch. Again, I thought he had nothing, but mentioned to him how much I look forward to handing my watches down to my sons some day.

YMMV, but this AD is doing it right in my opinion. Holding watches back from those looking for an easy $2k-$6k (or more) and selling them to those who want to add a great timepiece to their collection.

Great experience today.
