Panerai = too many rules
The 590 is officially called "Luminor Marina 8 Days stainless"; dial-wise, if it has the 8-day PR compllication then the dial gets "8 Days" instead of Marina; GMT complication, likewise.

I have never been big into Panerai until I tried them on. They are really great watches and, like Rolex, I like how they've stayed true to their original design. These new Panerai models are really sweet.

^word on the street has it at $9.7K / €7.9K
I found this really odd because a retail 372 will set me back roughly €8.2K so why are they retailing a LE for less... I think the bigger problem is obtaining one, regardless of price...

yes, availability will be a big issue - but at least at that sort of doable price, one can lament its scarcity even more heavily!

Looking at the pace of Panerai, there will be many more Radiomir 1940's coming up.
I think sooner or later, a base Radiomir 1940 will be a regular production model. |

Nice piece, even if for me the luminor pieces are the real Panerai DNA but sadly as much as I recognize that some Panerai are really cool watches my love for them has faded quite a bit, am even selling my Pams which in my book are really cool Pams, 233K, 28 and 82 which is a MM dial, but without the engraving (good as I don't like it so much) since it's a shadow case Pam…
Here's pics of my 3 Pams… P1000078.JPG P1000072.JPG P1000342.JPG |

I love this piece, but I just don't understand Panerai's methodology of only producing 1000 pieces. this watch is going to be a big hit for all Pamheads including myself...I have been waiting for 10 years for this piece to come out and I would sell my brother (if i had one ) to purchase for this watch. the plexi-glass is another issue i have, but I will still get it if i had the funds. I just wish panerai would listen to their fans...

This is the watch that will get me over the 47mm hurdle that I've had in my mind. It simply looks fantastic! Thanks to all for the photos.

I prefer the Rolex-type crown to the Rad diamond crown, but I would prefer to have a crown protection device. In the past there have been Rads with it and Luminors without it, so I think this would work with Panerai's 'vintage mix' approach

Nice piece, but I think if I bought one I'd wear the 372 in preference. That, and my wife would be reasonably justified in saying they look the same!

As some have said in the coming years Panerai will more than likely release more 1940 cased Panerai in the same vein as the 587. I would imagine though that there would be ever so subtle differences to keep the 587 individual. Difference text, maybe Radiomir Panerai, different font, different text colour, sapphire instead of plexy. Lots of available permutations!
I have noticed a difference, other than the dial, hands, crown and case side, between the 587 and 372. The 372 has angled lug ends that seem to follow the contour of the case where as the 587 looks to have virtually straight lug ends almost reminiscent of a new case Submariner Still hoping to get the call to go and collect a 587 but for now this is just fine

@ Jay Kay, I have both the 587 and the ceramic sub (114060) and the lug ends on the sub are very clearly angled. On the 587 they are angled as well, but it's so very subtle you have to really look for it, so for all intents and purposes they are rather straight.

This one is referenced as a 6152 I'd say the 587 was pretty much a re-issue of this
