Best value watch...price is irrelevant
If you had to name the top three "best value" watches, what would they be? Value is open to interpretation, and can be a $50 Casio to a $500k custom masterpiece. Please describe why you picked your choices if you feel the need.
Im a newbie, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but my list would be: 1. Rolex Explorer (maybe submariner) 2. Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch (Hesalite/leather) 3. Tudor BB58 (maybe Grand Seiko) Im a fan of high quality simplicity. I want the best quality build.....fashion, history, status are lower on the list for me. |

In my collection, I would say the best values are:
1. Grand Seiko SBGA387 2. Cartier Santos WSSA0039 3. FP Journe RG CS All three punch well above their weight at their respective price points. |

1. Casio G Shock - indestructible, does everything you could need.
2. Apple Watch - a computer on your wrist the managed to undercut most sport watches. Let’s be honest, purely valid-wise, everything else at every price point is just pointless trinkets. |

I have a 2 Journe watches that I purchased a couple of years when the prices were quite low compared to the quality. To purchase them I sold a Patek 5146 and a Royal OK 15400. At the time I thought they were a great value compared to what I got for the Patek and AP. Currently, prices have shot up for Journe and I don’t think I would buy them today considering how pricey they would be, not such a good value anymore.
I think my Lange Richard Lange is my current collections best value watch. I’ve really been enjoying my Omega Seamaster 300M, picked it up in March and have been beating the hell out of it. Not sure if it’s a great value, it about half the price of a Rolex Diver, but you can get plenty of fantastic dive watches for under $1000. |

SubC was good value when I got mine in the $7k range. Explorer was good value when I got my mk2 for $6300. Not sure they are anymore. Grand seiko, used omega and Tudor 58. |

The Seiko SLA's for divers and the new SPB lineup. Omega is nice to buy with a discount and pre-owned but when you move them you are still going to take a loss unless it is a LE or SE.

Do not agree the SLAs and SPBs are a value

I am a little disappointed in all the Seikos that cost over a thousand dollars. $250-500 is my sweet spot for a Seiko, but they are trying to up the ante. |

Some great answers here already. Tudor 58, omega 300M, used Lange 1, I’m really enjoying the new seiko spb diver line too. I’d say grand seiko, despite stronger pricing are also good specs for the $$

I picked this up yesterday and have to say that it represents phenomenal value (to me at least).
Stainless Steel Haute Horology for close to $10k is pretty much unheard of, and if H. Moser continues on their current trend they’ll only be growing in popularity. This type of design is hard to pull off (heritage + modern while remaining timeless), but it’s incredible on the wrist. The dial, movement, and case are all a feast for the eyes. Whoops, to round out my top 3 (from my collection); I would add the Explorer 1 Mk2, and an 116234 Datejust 36 on jubilee.

For all of the reasons listed by the OP, I've become a huge fan lately of Sinn and Seiko.

Yes was thinking that Grand Seiko have probably been the best value new watches I’ve ever bought. Pre-owned I’d say it was a 16710 for £3500 in 2018. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Impossible question. On the one hand, an old digital Casio is hard to beat, now that it can be considered retro cool. Equally, an I-watch is hard to beat given what it offers. And then there is something like a Daytona 116500 which is worth twice as much as you pay for it retail, if that ain’t good value, I don’t know what is!
If it is about the balance between premium quality at reasonable price, then either Seiko or Tudor are right up there for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best value 3 watches...
1) For a luxury sports watch- the current automatic Cartier Santos in steel. It has an in-house movement, its water resistant to 100m, it's anti-magnetic, it has a QuickSwitch bracelet system that allows for very easy switching between bracelet and straps (it comes with a metal bracelet, 1 calf strap, and a steel deployant buckle), the bracelet has a SmartLink design that allows one to easily size it without any tools, its well made, has an 8 year warranty, and you get all that with an iconic design and an MSRP of only $6,850. 2) For a sporty watch- a Submariner/or Submariner Date. If you can buy one at MSRP or if you bought one years ago. It is the quintessential dive watch. It is the standard by which other diving watches are measure by. It is pretty close to indestructible, and can withstand almost any punishment you subject it to. When I bought my Submariner LV Kermit back in 2005 it was only $4,250, which wasn't cheap but wasn't crazy money. 3) For a dress watch the Cartier Tank Louis Cartier. It has a great hand wound movement from F. Piguet. The case is pared down to a few essential lines giving it a very clean and elegant design. There are no unnecessary elements. The dial is beautiful with classic Roman numerals and handsome guilloche work. The design has been around for over 100 years in some form or other, and in 18kt gold the MSRP is around $12,400 which I find quite reasonable for a gold dress watch, compared to watches from PP, AP, VC, Lange, Piaget, JLC etc. Its also a design that is very versatile and easy to wear with a suit or jeans and a nice shirt/sweater. |

I agree with Gshocks being on the list. My Panerai 233 should be a contender for its cost second hand with its list of complications. Tudor Black Bay, Omega Seamaster (take your pick) and Speedmaster.
And, all Rolex SS sports at RRP.

That's a tough question to answer. I like this Rolex better than essentially any other model they offer and it was a fraction of the cost:
I'd choose this Grand Seiko over about any watch on earth if all were priced the same to me it's close to perfection: I don't own one but relative to other full gold watches I think older day date 36s are fantastic value. Omega's SMP300 is on my list as well. |

Can’t name three, only one I’m going with is the Glashütte Original Seventies Flyback Chrono on bracelet! High horology and simply stunning!!

I agree, Lange 1 with the old movement are ridiculously cheap!
I‘d like to add almost everything that Grand Seiko does. |

Seagull 1963 - column wheel chronograph for £200ish with good accuracy and great look IMHO.
