"... put my name down for a SD"
Having just read posts in answer to another thread 25th February, asking how long to wait (on AD retail purchase) for a Sky-Dweller. I finished reading feeling fairly disappointed.
With the internet, would it not be possible for a new watch ordered, placed at any Rolex AD, for such order to be given a ref number on a worldwide Rolex list? This would surely overcome disappointing posts that commented how a customer later on, and spending more on other (jewellery) items, might be favoured with the Sky-Dweller coming in, ahead of a customer still on waiting list with no jewellery spend? |

I agree.
The current situation where big spenders that help a store remain in business by buying their high margin items can cut in line to buy a luxury wristwatch is truly disgusting. I think a system of switching to central planning for luxury wristwatch allocation based on the idea of “to each according to their needs” or perhaps some form of randomized lottery would be preferable. It’s not right for luxury wristwatches to mostly remain in the hands of so-called “VIP” clients. Comrades let’s join together! |

Quote:
1) Rolex sells their watches to ADs, not to end-users such as your good self. 2) ADs can make more money by not having that transparent, ordered list you mention, than by having it. |

Rolex (AD’s) make more on repeat buyers so they get priority. Anything else is poor business
