Authentic Rolex Bracelet?
Over Christmas, my dad (very, very generously) gave me his 1972 Rolex Submariner, originally a graduation gift from his dad. He hadn't worn it in years, so had it refurbished, and gave it to me. The watch is beautiful, but since the bracelet is older, thinner, and doesn't have a lock/clasp, he got another band from a slightly later model Rolex to give to me. More specifically, that bracelet came from his younger brother, my uncle, who got the same gift for graduation in the early 80's. When my uncle received that watch, he swapped it out for a nylon band, and stashed the original bracelet, then lost the watch a few months later in the ocean...
I took the watch into the local Rolex dealer who had facilitated the refurbishment, to have the watch appraised, and to have the bracelets swapped out. I was told today that they could not use the bracelet that I provided, because it was "not of Rolex manufacture". The sales rep noted that the clasp had some rust, and that the links were kinking here and there. They were very friendly, and while it's not that I don't trust them, as they seem to know what they were talking about, I thought I'd get some verification/suggestions on tells from the internet before I buy a new bracelet. I've attached a few pics. |

fake 5 digit bracelets are very good quality. Some of the very high end replica's would fool plenty of ppl in the watch game.
Take it to RSC directly to get it confirmed 100% or send it to Rolliworks or someone very very reputable. They will tell you 100% if its genuine or not. |

Seems ok from here but a closer look at that first pic with the Rolex scroll would be helpful.

If you got this 93150 bracelet from your uncle who got it originally in the early 80’s and removed it himself it is hard to believe it could be aftermarket…
Don’t think there were great quality aftermarket parts back then like we have now… A second opinion from an authentic Rolex AD is the only way to go… BTW: I would love to see pics of your ‘72 Sub, is it a red submariner?

The history points towards the bracelet being genuine but the pix are not good enough to confirm this.
A RSC would confirm or better pix?

Authentic Rolex Bracelet?
You don’t need to do that. Just post a few clear photos- 1 of the stamping on the last link (93150), 1 of the scroll work, one a profile. But I’m pretty sure the bracelet is fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting update here: I sent the bracelet off to the Rolex Service Center a month ago, asking if they'd polish and clear up an issue with the links binding, as I'm told while they won't authenticate, they won't work on a piece if it's not authentic. I got a phone call from Rolex the other day letting me know that to do any work on the bracelet, they'd need the whole watch. I asked them to send the bracelet back, so the mystery continues...
