Tudor Question
Generally speaking, what is the money loss if one decides to trade in a Tudor vs. trading in a Rolex.
My guess would be that the percentage loss on a Tudor would be greater than a Rolex. |

Depends on model.
A Rolex is easiest model for a dealer to sell, they will therefore take them on tighter margin. Tudor sits a bit longer so has a bigger spread on what a dealer will pay vs. sell it for. Rolex trade on average = retail (or more) to retail - 20% depending on model Tudor trade on average = retail - 25% to retail - 50% depending on model |

My experience is that the Tudor models will be 25-50% off retail when you try to sell or trade a complete used watch. The key is to buy right and get a discount off retail, 10-20%, and buy models that are popular. Depending on which Rolex your margins cold be from 0-100% above what you pay. If you provided more specifics then the answer could be more detailed.

I just recently picked up a used BB58 blue for 40% off. Very dependent on model.

The best approach is to take your time to make an informed decision on what watch really works for you vs an impulse buy. The REAL value comes from enjoying the watch and not having to worry about selling, shipping, and going thru the same again & again.

You're going to lose at least $2k, even on the popular models

depends on the purchase price and how long you own it for.
generally you will lose money on most watches unless you buy it under the used market price after it has been out for a while. that said if you buy any grey market rolex over retail you are flirting with lose a lot more than a couple of grand.

I lost 50% of my Black Bay (ETA movement) value when I traded in after two years. I got MSRP for my No Date Sub when trading that watch at the same dealer. The Rolex was also about two years old.
