I'd have to trade more than my 1675 for my grail.

For my Rolex grail - think RED

Perhaps we'll make the GTG sometime next week. This Saturday is probably too short notice

Late afternoon works for me too. I was actually thinking drinks around 10 in Central, which do you prefer?

Hey guys, need some help here. I just picked up a Vintage piece and it needs to be re-serviced, tear down and re oil some components. I would bring it to RSC HK but afraid that they will replace some of the parts. Do you guys have specific watch makers for these services??

Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon,

I brought my 5.1 million serial 1675 to RSC and they did a find job with it, as long as you tell them which parts not to touch. Also, depending on how old your vintage piece is and if you have papers, it might take some time.

I didn't have the papers on my 1675 and it took them 3 weeks to verify the serial number before they would work on it. After that, it took 2 weeks. I told them specifically not to touch the hands or the dial, which they didn't.

The did replace the plexi and crown as that was the only way it would pass the water pressure test.

The total on my bill was HKD $5700.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi guys! I'm off to Hong Kong next weekend to buy myself an Explorer II (black). Can anyone recommend a good AD? I've called a few in Central but none are willing to give me more than 8% discount. Thanks!

I travel to HK 2 to 3 times a year en route to China, love the place and normally stay on the Kowloon side.
Planning to return to HK/China at the end of the year/early January and would be awesome to catchup with the HK TRF members

Religiously hit the racetrack (Happy Valley or Sha tin) on the Sunday afternoon.

Hi Des,

Drop me PM when you've firmed up the dates for your next trip and we'll try to arrange a GTG when you're in town.

Cheers,

Eric

I don't know of any AD's that will go more than 8%.
There are certainly grey market dealers that will go to 15%.

Greetings HongKongers!

To reiterate AVS's post... can anybody recommend a watchmaker to service (NOT RSC)?

I have a mini-sub I'd like to get polished up to sell. thanx.

Hi inspires,

Wonder if I can be a member as well? :)

I am a new member here but I was previously based in Hong Kong for a few years but now based in London. Was actually in Hong Kong on business/holiday last year but I wasn't really into watches or Rolex back then. Now, I am planning to buy a Rolex this year. How things change!

Anyways, if all goes well, I might be headed back to Hong Kong for a while.

Try talking to Mr. Wing Man at Chronomert Vintage Timepieces.

The shops address is:
Shop B112, Basement One,
Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel,
No 50 Mathan Road, TST,HK
Phone: (852) 2312-2062

Previously I had asked him the same question and he provided me with the contact information of the person he uses to polish his watches.

I think this is the contact's information but I'm not 100% sure so it would be best to ask Mr. Wing Man.

Not from Hk but I go there at least 5x a year for food tripping and as a transit point to China. I was there before the Chinese new year and will be back on March 26 to March 31 for vacation and will back again on April 5 to see the watch show before flying to Shanghai in route to Yiwu.
