PAM721 Officially Announced
I know there has been speculations about this piece but it was finally announced today that it will be released Dec. 6th for Design Miami. What do you guys think of this piece which is a homage to the 3646 Type D with "anonymous" dial?
More Info - http://www.paneraicentral.com/panera...-design-miami/ Some back history on this piece from a historical point. Some say that Panerai shouldn't have released this model given that it was a piece that was made for Nazi divers. https://perezcope.com/2017/01/23/sho...a-nazi-homage/ |

Almost a year after the first pictures, it's finally "official".
As for the "history", so much of Panerai's early history is conjecture, I find it hard to draw a line at a particular watch. Anyway, the quality of the design transcends history, in a way. |

Love it , something I have learned on Panerai the simpler the dial the better they look ; after all they are supposed to be tool watches.
Winding the big crown of a Radiomir is quite special, I just discovered that with my 424. I was so caught up with the crown guard of the Luminor but have to admit is way more fun to wind the Radiomir crown. Love to set time only , no seconds or date , a bonding feeling must admit Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love this design. Minimalist Panerai’s have always been some of the most beautiful pieces imho. There’s something about the juxtaposition of a large case and simple design that I find interesting.

Totally agree. I have the 424 as well and love winding it. It’s also the most accurate watch I own. |

Wow! I find this really very exciting. So far, I have not owned a Panerai, and was planning on looking seriously at getting one in the next year. I really prefer the minimalist styling as well, and was considering a California 3 days Acciaio.
I am particularly passionate about watches that have a movement that specifically fits the case size. And also manually wound. I found this in a gold Patek Philippe Gondolo which I will soon be getting. If I can get my hands on this Panerai it will be an amazing compliment to the Patek Philippe, in that sense. Also, I learned today something else about the P.3000 movement. It allows the hour hand to be adjusted in one hour increments without interfering with the minute hand or the movement. In addition to the 72 hour power reserve, this is great. Normally, I like smaller size watches. In this case, however, I am more than willing to make an exception, being that the movement is such a large size. Cheers, Carl

Thanks for posting this great wrist shot! Yes, it is big, but it looks amazing. That domed crystal really gives a sincerely vintage look. I assume the one in your photo is the sapphire crystal? I was very pleased to learn that the watch also comes with a plexiglass crystal!
Truly a unique and wonderful piece. There are very few watches lately that have really impressed me so much. Cheers, Carl

There was some controversy in another forum that Panerai shouldn't release a watch that was used by Nazi soldiers over 70 years ago during WW2 and the reissue of it upset some people.
I am glad that it finally surface because I just love the anonymous dial with blue hands |

I like it. Don't know if it will bump out several other Panerai's that I am considering but look forward to seeing the 721 in person.

721 looks awesome. I enjoy the sapphire crystal of the 424 and the rail minutes indicators on the dial though. Both awesome just preference
