Hope you don't mind if I post my first GMT here.

Gentlemen, please excuse me for posting a five digit GMT here but I didn't know what to do and I'll try to explain. This is a E51xx serial 16710 from 1991, so I know this is not truly vintage according to forum standards, but I thought our friends in the main board are more worried about new basel releases, supply, availability etc, and I thought I'd just bother everyone with this incoming. Of course I'd get a lot of positive answers as people are really kind there and in TRF in general but I'd like to talk about things that are more suited here, and with 27yrs of life and a very beautiful patina I thought it would be welcome here.

Well, as I said this is my first GMT. I talked about this watch for more than a year with the original owner, a very kind gentleman who I know from work, and today we closed a deal that was good for both of us.

The watch is in beautiful original condition and a very complete set. Apart from the tag, everything we would expect is here. Inner and outer box, papers, links, booklets, and also the original invoice from Mayors, and even the salesman business card. There's a Mayors card as well and this is very interesting because apparently Mayors was ahead of its time and they offered a plastic card with the watch serial number along with the certificate, and the card looks like the modern ones that Rolex offers, but this was many years before Rolex moved from folded papers to cards.

Overall the watch is perfect and keeping great time. Of course there are scratches and this is obvious but no ding or deep scratch and I'll keep it that way. I'll fly next week to have it serviced by my trusted watchmaker in Rio but I'll ask no polishing at all and I thank the forum for the acquired taste and knowledge. The insert is beautiful as well with a light red that looks lovely. The patina on the dial and hands is very noticeable, albeit hard to be captured in pics with my crappy phone, and even if look uneven in this poor pic, in person they are perfect and really beautiful.

So this is it gentlemen. Thank you for reading and thanks for letting me post in this board. It's an honor for me to share my happiness here.

Huge congrats, my friend! Excellent tritium 16710s are getting tough to find and I think in years to come they will be even more sought after.

Thanks guys. Beautiful watches. Thanks for sharing.

You know, I had an entire year to welcome many stuff in my mind, but what I need to do is not touch this watch. won't change the insert, I mean ever, and not try other bracelets. I need 4 kinks at 6 oclock side to make it perfect but I won't remove a perm link on this one like I did last year with the 14060M Z (yes I'm slowly moving backwards). I like the clasp close to my inner wrist, but this one will be the opposite and I dont mind, as long as I don't spoil or interfere with this watch.

It's not the watch itself. I had a year to talk about it. I did my best to deserve my friends baby. specially a 27yr old intelligent beautiful daughter like this one. and I'm glad my friend is in Norway next week to visit family and friends, he got a beautiful boat to sail with some couples, family and his grandchildren. coincidence I'll visit his homeland for the first time next jan - I'll see the scream by munch. this is like the album last card for me-. I mean, all that transcends the watch. the hobby is about fishing. not about the fish.

Lovely example of a watch, that's just about one of the hottest about today & probably always will be . I really do prefer the 5 digit GMTs over the 6 , they just seem to hit the sweet spot for me

Wow! Lovely! Is the dial original? I've seen some with the white gold around the markers and some with just lume markers? Bit confused but absolutely lovely!!
