Daytona upgrade due?
I don't know too much about the Daytona models, but one thing I know is it hasn't seen much change since a long time. I'm talking about a change like seen in the sub from the 16610 to the 116610 or the gmt from the 16710 to the 116710 or from the day date to the day date II. You think there's a a similar change to the Daytona about to come soon?

No. The design is timeless, and they will NOT use a ceramic bezel with SS as that will undermine the popular precious metal models. This is common sense product placement in a tier system. Don't let wishful thinking cloud your judgment. These are the same people who think the Pepsi will soon come out in SS. Yeah, in what dimension?
Don't get me wrong, I wish they would use ceramic bezels on SS and WG, and that Pepsi's would come out in SS, but then reality sets in. They are selling Daytonas at a good rate compared to other models, why would they change their Daytona formula? |

I maybe would buy an 18k with a ceramic bezel if it was available.

the Daytona was the first in the line to go from the 16520 to the 116520 including: new movement, new bracelet, billet clasp, solid links, EZ link and bracelet halves that go down to 4 links.
We are now starting to see the Daytona get ceramic bezels beginning with the platinum model..

They still have ** go full bracelet with ceramic bezels on all gold models
Then maybe? Ceramic bezel trickle down ** maybe TT? Not sure if it will ever make it ** SS cause would really compete with WG and platinum? I certainly would buy a SS with black ceramic bezel or any other change for that matter! So until something really big happens ** the Day**na line I am sticking with this... I think ceramic will find its way ** the SS Day**na....eventually. As far as other changes go....I do not see them doing much other than maybe new dial options or new over the **p precious metal with gems**ne configurations.

As sick as a SS Day**na with black ceramic bezel would be, I do not see that happening. Maybe it would make sense in white gold?

I can't see rolex not putting ceramic bezel on ss day**na. They already have it on much lesser watches GMT, sub, etc. I think next two years we see ceramic bezel on ss.

Day**na SS ceramic bezel 2-4 years, price increased ** 14k-15k. Is 15k **o much for a SS? That's reaching AP range.

My guess in 2011 was that the 116515 would be out on a bracelet next. So I'm hoping my guess/wish comes true. That would be the coolest Day**na since the 6241 in all gold came out.

I'm guessing Rolex will do ceramic on TT daytona.
No ceramic bezel on WG bracelet model or SS or any gold bracelet model. |

I thought I was the only one seeing it. Seems like "t-o", and "y-o-u" are being censored. I saw it universally on my phone (including screwing up links to photobucket), and occasionally on my computer.

The Daytona has been updated. Compared to the 5 digit version, the new version has an in-house movement, solid bracelet and the new style clasp.
I am not sure if Rolex will come out with a ceramic bezel for the SS Daytona. I feel like they may keep that reserved for precious metal versions. |

I could see them introducing a parallel Daytona II type line with a larger (42mm?) case size and a ceramic bezel that runs parallel to the current 116250 similar to how there is a Datejust I and a Datejust II. The main thing that the Daytona's detractors say is that it is a little small. I would be pretty surprised if they replaced the current production Daytona with a Ceramic version of it in the same dimensions.

Maybe just increase the lugs size, make them wider like in the sub. The dial remains the same but the watch feels a bit bigger and chunkier.. Don't think they would increase the size to be honest

I think the PLATONA came out to soak up all those with real cash, I cant see why they wont come out with ceramic on lower models given scratching is always one of the complaints about Daytona's and it is not a cheap watch in any case. I just hope it does not increase in size as I think it is right sized now.

Yeah they could go the Sub-C route with the Daytona. If they do it I think we could expect some very long wait times to get one.

Maybe a Daytona with different color sub-dials - i.e. Panda/Reverse Panda - will come out of Basel 2015... One can only hope.

That makes sense. You and Wesley and Dr. Tom have an understanding of the direction Rolex is moving in, and it isn't to trick out entry level models.
I see Rolex maintaining an entry level - SS - in their tool watches, but really moving toward higher end luxury models that are aspirational within the Rolex brand. So someone saves up and buys an SS Daytona and then gets the itch for a ceramic bezel or special dial precious metal Daytona. |
