I've been toying with picking up a strap for the ExpII for some variety. Anyone have any suggestions for a curved-ended strap that would fit? I've seen some nice deployment clasps too... how well do they work?

Finally, assuming I can't find a nice curved strap, does anyone remember that photo tutorial Jocke once posted (not here) on how to retro-fit a strap into Rolex bracelet end-pieces? Without a curved strap, that is a great way to finish the look.

Also, what can I use to take the bracelet off? Do I need a Bergeron tool?

Yup, may as well use the Bergeron tool - no point using a jerry-rigged tool and scratching the hell out of the case.

I think you’re making a good move. There’s nothing to loose but a lot to gain. If you don’t like the strap, just change it back to the bracelet. I can recommend a deployment clasp, for one, it saves the strap from the worn-out look you get with a normal buckle. Once you’ve adjusted it, it’s a no-brainer to use and they can be retrofitted to any strap. I’m not sure how it will hold up in very heavy use though, perhaps you should consider a NATO strap. I’ve never seen straps with curved ends at the lug side, straight ends look just fine. I remember seeing a nice black strap from tightly woven material (I think it was a mix of nylon and Kevlar fibers) that really looked the part. Happy hunting!

I can only envision a black leather strap with the EXP (other than the bracelet). I can't see a Nato strap or a Kevlar strap with it.

The strap I saw looks just like those nice, thick, padded leather straps. Not those flimsy nylon affairs.

Bruce would be the man to talk too, he has done it before on his old white dialed exp II. I know he has a few great sources.

You can always use a wooden toothpick to pop the springbars, that or scotch tape on the lugs and a paperclip, which is my preferred method. I think that it would look very sharp on a black with white stitch. You always have the ability to change back and forth too.

I've got an Explorer II.Not a bad idea, and those straps on that link seems pretty reasonable.

Just measure between the lugs,of the top my head 20mm.And yes Ken Danks has some very good quality straps for very
little money.Can personally recommend the Buffalo Hide on deployment.Great value for the money and most suitable for a heavy sports type watches.And very easy to size for a perfect

Ed we have very similar tastes. That's exactly what I was aiming for (and maybe a blue croc at some point). But some of the kevlar straps are very thick these days and could be an option too.

I know Omega makes curved ended straps...
