Vintage Rolex Question.

Does anyone know where can I take vintage Rolex watches for an estimate if I want to know how much it worth?

Very few places will do this if it is unique or collectible. A true professional estimate of worth is expensive and a recognized source for value estimates is a difficult person to find. If it is for insurance purposes, most Dealers will estimate at replacement value, or what a new one of the same model currently sells for.

Most look around on the Internet for other similar watches and what they are listed, or have sold, for and pick one that matches.

On TRF we assume that value questions are attempts to sell, or receive bids, and such threads are removed.

Bring it over to Grapevine and I'll have a look at it for you.

I would call your insurance company and see who they recommend. Some insurance agencies will only accept valuations from certain accredited appraisers and from my experience they were very fair(slightly over valuated).

if you're just looking to sell, look on ebay of similar watches. Get offers from some of the famous vintage dealers and realize they're worth a bit more. etc

I believe Sotheby's can give you an estimate of value. You can also take it to Rolex for a service request or for authentication which they may require before they will even service your watch. Although, Rolex will only give you a replacement value for the same reference, not the actual value you may get from a collector of vintage Rolex. Excellent idea from Handey0465. There are plenty of sold watches listed here on the forum in the classifieds too. Keep in mind the height of the market was just prior to Covid.

Edit:
Just posted and noticed Springers post. Take him up on his offer you will never find an appraiser more knowlegeable!!

Thank you so much for all your inputs. I am trying to help an old couple who want to sell their three Rolex watches to pay for their medical bills. I have a friend who is interested to purchase one of the watch and I just want to ensure the deal is fair to both parties.

All of your suggestions are very helpful. I will try all mentioned methods. I especially thanks jP for the offer. I really appropriate all of you. Thanks again!

That sounds terrible. Medical bills should be covered by insurance, but i guess not everyone is that lucky :(

I think they do have insurance but I am not sure why the co-pay is so high for them.
