Submariner 1680 matt dial

What is so rare about this watch/dial?

https://www.vintagewatchcompany.com/submariner

Is a matt dial a faded normal dial?

That dealer describes pretty much everything as rare........ and I'm glad to see the permanent 30% off sale is still going strong. They are located in Burlington Arcade and good for a window shop but the prices (after the discount) are very very top end. I personally wouldn't pay that for a White 1680 on a Nato strap with a service insert. Their single photo that you can't enlarge doesn't help in terms of assessing the watch either.......

But is a Matt dial just a faded normal dial? And does it add any extra value?

No. A matte dial is a normal dial. That's how they were made. It has a matted service (as opposed to the glossy surface of a gilt dial, or a glossy dial). Not sure why they're claiming this particular watch is regarded as "very rare". Doesn't even have the correct insert.

What he ^ said.

I'd want an original bracelet and original 'Garantie' certificate too, for that money, to be honest.
