I also think Aquanaut Chrono will be popular. I spoke to one of the AD's I deal with and I was told quite a lot of people had expressed their interest in 5740G and 5968A with more people interested in the 5740G

i believe it. No way im in the market for a 5740 but i doubt i could get it anyway if i tried. I could get a 5968, so that makes sense to me.

I remember saying when I bought my 5164 that I bet a chrono comes out now, as Basel seems to wait for me. Happened with DD40 and D500 after I just bought a DD2 and RG Daytona. Thought the Hulk discoing was more likely so at least only 1 of 2.

$43K is okay. My issue is with its size. It will be the biggest Aquanaut at 42.2mm, that's as big as the AP Diver...

no way it wears that big. The 5168 wears small and the 5164 with the added thickness doesnt wear big either. Its nearly 41mm.

its just not doing it for me ,,, almost too much , or trying too hard .
im sure it will sell , but i could think of nicer things to come home with after spending that amount of cash.

I always thought that if Patek made an aquanaut chrono it would be the star of the lineup but now I'm starting to think the 5164a is my favorite aquanaut

Really don't like the orange details and that orange strap is really cheap looking.

Orange like that just reminds me of Hermes honestly, as did most of the people I was chatting with, difference of opinion I guess ha.

It seems those complaining about the price of the 5968A don't realize this is Patek's least expensive chrono watch, with the 28-520C movement.

The discontinued 5980/1A was $51K and the recently discontinued (and not too popular) 5960/1A was also $51K USD. The chrono/travel time 5990/1A is $53K.

Considering the fact that the 5164A was released at $36K USD in 2011 (although subsequently price dropped to $34K in 2015), the 5968A pricing at $43K seems reasonable.

Personally, the travel time is the better complication imo

5980A had a 12 hour mono counter and Nautilus bracelet and 8K USD expensive, 5960A had a 12 hour mono counter and AC and 8 K expensive, 5990A has the additional travel time function and Nautilus bracelet and 10K more than 5968A. Therefore I feel 5968A is slightly overpriced. However I like it and I'm getting one. The ADs I have spoken to expect it to have big waiting lists at least for the first few years based the current interest.

I thought it would be hard for the chrono to beat the 64 in looks but I thought the comp might be better for me all round. Glad to say that is not the case and very happy with the 64.

I hope you will get to enjoy your 5968A soon

Once again I feel the 5968 is being introduced at a very reasonable price point, being the least expensive Patek chrono produced within the past 10+ years.

Perhaps it will be even less expensive if a non-UK/EU client purchases one in the UK/EU and receive a VAT refund, lowering the price to under $40K USD equivalent

glad you are deciding to pull the trigger. Its a great looking watch and if i didn't love my 5164 so much it would be an easy decision. I still may, but im conflicted

For the price of the Aquanaut Chrono I’d rather buy a 5711/12 on the grey market

You could for 10k more. Takuya has a 5712 for $54k and DSW a 5711 for 52k...Chrono seems like the better play here...esp if VAT refund is doable

I hope not, but would be curious to know why orange was selected of all the young and fun colours. Seems quite out there, would have thought blue or something more transitional would have been chosen.

I do like orange and had an orange PO, but I was bright young thing then. More pics for you below Roger.

Just thought Patek would be more conservative, at least at first. Think blue and a blue strap would also have been awesome.

Thanks Neil!

As an aside — I completely agree — I wondered the same thing when I saw it integrated into this Patek — I absolutely fell in love with it — but did thing for a quick minute that orange was an interesting choice for them.

I loved my orange PO!!!

Is this off the table now you have the 5711?

Think if it were in blue I would have some thinking to do.

yep. If it was blue i might flip it for the Aqua chrono. Because its white, i think its not redundant at all with the 5712. IMO its a better pair than two aquanauts.

Im really curious to see what the new blue 5711 dial has on secondary pricing. Off topic, but im genuinely curious what the premium will be since its new and more rare.

Yes the white is perfect for your collection. Watch Gods are smiling on you for sure... while they kill the BLRO owners.

I would have preferred white, but if going for a colour on a black dial I think orange works pretty well, and has a nice contrast. I bet irl it looks amazing.
