Looks awesome man, too nice.
Now driving that with your 1655, that is just too cool

The push buttons on the steering wheel seem to be the only "weak" point with this car. (from what I've read).
Some say they get used to it, others say the tranny is so good on it's own, there is no reason to use the buttons.

Hey Scott, Congrats on your beautiful new Porsche!! I've looked at a few but too bad its really not my time to get an additional car. Especially, when it snows half the year here. I wish I lived out in Cali where the weather is nice. I have an uncle there who also has a limited edition 97 Carrera S in vesuvius purple with gray door handles, rear vents, and side mirrors. I love the car. I hope u have as much fun in that one!!!

I'm hoping he actually bought the 3 pedal version!

I don't think there is a third pedal with the PDK.

I used to do that drive late at night....it's scary doing it in the mornings due to all the bicyclists. It's a great "date" drive too.

Weather was a huge factor for me when I was applying for jobs. Luckily I found one close to home. Any pics of the Carrera?

I'll stop by Sharkwerks one of these days to see what's available...aside an exhaust, I have to lay off large purchases for a while haha.

Nope, chose the automatic 7spd PDK. One of the most fun automatic trannies I've driven in memory. Only downside was the additional weight and cost and it's a little jerky at very low speeds. On the plus, very aggressive and fast shifting when I'm on the throttle in sport mode. If only the shifters were correct (which I think will be fixed in the 2010 models), it would bury any need for rowing gears.

It's been sitting undriven in the garage all week...can't to get home from work and free it for a spin.

Over the weekend:

-Mounted this gorgeous Fabspeed catback

-BMC air filter (no pic..nothing to see)

-Changed the fogs to the proper color...rear license ones too

I sent a bit some of my stock exhaust down to socal for a tuning shop to develop a small part with. Considering an ECU flash&headers when spring rolls around next year, but for now I'm pretty content with the 'go' part. The kicker is I'm still nowhere near done with breakin so I still haven't heard this thing hit the upper RPMs

Thank you...was surprised to see this thread up again. The car hasn't changed much since the last update, aside from a Softronic flash for a small power bump. I ordered some carbon fiber goodies but they had too many imperfections to keep

Suspension next year. Maybe.

Scott,

I will state the obvious and say what a beautiful car and impressive piece of machinery you own. Nonetheless, even the best photographers in the land can't capture that new car smell I love! Use your wonderous vehicle in the best of health; I know you will derive great enjoyment from it. Faith

Final update of 2009:

Suspension came in a little faster than I thought; the car is settling on JICs while I fine-tune it. I can't fathom changing anything major for a while (unless I get some track time in when the weather clears). I love this car!

Scott: Not to encourage any extra-legal activity, mind, but have you, you know, tried it out top end-wise ? 20 years ago, when I finished my 944 Turbo S upgrading, I had to know...y'know ? Result: I chickened out at 178 ! Not being a regular race-car driver, that speed was just scary as hell ! All I could hear was the air rushing past. The car was rock-steady. I needed a drink afterward !

Beautiful wheels, my friend

Interesting and very curious to know what you dit to it?

I've owned several 951's and could never get them above 120-125.

Actually, not all that much. The original spec. car was rated for 148 +/-. I added Weltmeister swaybars, K & N filter, racing turbo, Bosch tuned exhaust and sport shocks, and AJ Racing DME/KLR chip mod's. The latter had the dual advantage of richening the fuel ratio and raising the rev limiter, which is probably the biggest difference speedwise. I did not lower the suspension, since I wanted it to work on regular roads. Nowadays I would have made the brakes larger also, but that was a very pricey mod then.

I can't say I have....I'm not really a top-end guy - too scary I much prefer those 'scenic' routes at night when there's no traffic.

From a practical standpoint, it's nice to have the power curve centered between 70 and 130 mph. Great for smokin' Camaros and Mustangs at will. In mine, you needed to be at 3k RPM to get the blower to kick in, and the horses didn't really make themselves known till around 125 mph. Damn thing belonged on a track the way I did it, which is where it ultimately ended up when I sold it to a weekend racer in NH.
