I totally agreed with you. I had it previously and I sold to buy a DaytonaC - I did regret it and sold the DaytonaC with a profit to get back the Deepsea Blue.

I believe, despite the size and thickness, its the most stunning watch Rolex ever made next to the Submariner LV.

I think it's the greatest dial Rolex has ever created. Really stunning in person. If they could stick that dial on an SD43 you would have the perfect Rolex in my opinion. I tried it on and loved it but the thickness and the narrow band are what prevented me from picking one up. If I try on an SD43 and don't love it, I may very well go take a second look at the DSSD Blue

I actually had the SD43 in my hand but it didn't spark me out.
I could buy it at my AD but it just feel like a Submariner LN - just a bit bigger.

there is nothing like the Deepsea Blue.

Wouldn't totally shock me if the same thing happens to me when I finally do get the call from the AD that the SD43 has arrived. I posted in a thread a while back that just by chance my AD had a DSSD Blue in stock when I visited last time to put my name on the list for an SD43. Never seen one before and was really blown away by it. For my wrist size it really worked well. But man is that thing thick. I like a thicker and larger watch, but that thing is REALLY thick! Just not sure if I can do that for a daily, which it what I'm looking for. Here it is on my wrist. Like I said, I was really impressed with it!

If it looked as good on me as it does on you, I'd own one, too.

Remember: asking forgiveness is easier than asking permission.

One last thing: pre-congrats!

The Deepsea Blue fits perfectly. you definitely have the wrist to pull it off.
Yes, it's tick but once you have it on your wrist, you will get used to it.

When I had mine (before I sold it for a Daytona C - bad decision) it was my daily keeper and the BLNR was sitting in the box 24/7 . Now I really miss the D-Blue

Like the Rolex lusting sucker that I am, I tried it on. I think I'm in love. If I bring another one home this quick, my wife will probably accuse me of a mid life crisis (I havent bought a new Porsche yet, so doom on you wifey.) My AD says "Hey, no problemo. Hit us with a deposit and we'll throw it in the safe for you until you say the coast is clear."

The opportunities for mischief that were unlocked when he said this made me dizzy. I had a hot flash of my wifes divorce attorney deposing me "Mike, how many watches did you have reserved for pick up?" Me: Seventeen.

I think Im coming back for this one though.

OP, just letting you know, this was the most hilariously well written post I have ever read on my short time on this website.

It is thick but once you get used to it you just don't notice, one thing that is a little bit of a pain is you can't stop looking at it I picked this and a black dial Daytona within a couple of weeks of each other and was not in a position to keep both, I've still got the DBlue

I love the D Blue. I have a strong feeling that I will own a D Blue and the SD43. Something about the red writing just sets me off, and two of my "grail" watches I want have the red.

I am starting to understand while I put the National Geographic, with James Cameron's descent into the trench, away in plastic last month.

I wasn't at all interested in the D-Blue until I came across one at an AD while on vacation. Then i was totally and my wife encouraged me to buy it. Personally, I think it feels great on the wrist.

I have to agree. I used to wear a Breitling Navitimer World so Im no stranger to large watches. The size was actually a plus for me, and the face really sets it off.

It's hard to argue it isn't the most striking SS they make, the dial complexities alone make this a very unique piece. Wonderful shot.

DSSD Blue?

Rolex's most unique production modern ensemble in a very long time.

Esthethics are subtle yet elegant. And why the dial was created is very unique for a modern Rolex.

Considering it was created specially for James Cameron's deep sea dive. It's nickname is D-Blue. Not Batman, Pepsi, Coke, Hulk, Platona etc.

I wear the regular Deepsea. Does it make sense to trade for the deep blue just to get the different face?
