Is this authentic?
My brother in law received this watch a few years ago as a gift from one of his employees.
I am not all that familiar with Panerai and could not help with the model or whether or not it was authentic. Can anyone help with authentication and model? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If thats supposed to be a Pam90. It's not supposed to have a REG. TM on the crown lock and has a solid back.
Can't tell which series it is, but found a G and later R model and both had solid backs. Employee still work for your brother? DON |

Thanks for the reply. Employee was probably the wrong word, they were partners and he does not work there anymore. He ended up getting bought out.....and no, the watch wasn't in the deal ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We were 95% sure that was the case, but I didn't even know what model it was supposed to be.

Very fake, dial markings aren't even close if you compare to an authentic PAM 90.

It's easy to stand up and say 'it's a fake' after the experts have already confirmed.
Being a very inexperienced Paneristi, I didn't know one way or the other. However, the font of the 12 and 6 looked off to me. It's never a good thing when someone is given something that turns out to be a fake. I feel bad for the guy that received it

Was it given to your brother as if it was real? Seems unlikely, as it would not have come with box/papers.

Neither one are watch guy's and my brother in law didn't even know what Paneria was. I complimented him on it and he didn't realize it was supposed to be that expensive and that's what got us talking. He said there's no way this guy would have spent that kind of money on a gift so we assumed it probably wasn't authentic.

Nope, and if you unscrew the back you should be able to see the plastic housing the movement is retained in. The best thing about a knock off is you can take them apart and learn about watches and mechanics. Press a racket ball against the display portion of the case (glass part) and twist. You should be able to unscrew the back case with a bit of effort and you will see what I mean.

Happy to be shot down on this but I'm sure I've read that writing of 'PANERAI' on the movement should never contain the word in full. I.e it will always be written as ANERAIPAN, ERAIP, PANERA, etc etc but never with the complete word. I'll let someone with more knowledge confirm!
