5726 likes / dislikes?

This is a model that seems to be more polarizing than I'd have thought. I've wanted a Nautilus for some time. I think an annual or perpetual calendar is the most useful complication. The moon phase is cool, and the dial is well balanced. So, why do so many not care for it? What do you dislike? I'm looking to be talked out of it, otherwise I'll purchase one next month.

P.S. I have little interest in, and no use for, chronographs. So, a 5980 recommendation is not likely to sway me.

P.P.S. I expect to buy a 5711/1r at some point too (on bracelet).

Thanks!

It's an awful watch, don't buy it. Of course I am joking, it's an easy to read AC

I like it. I bet the white dial on a bracelet would be stunning.

I look forward to hearing this too. I am biased, as the 5726 is my favorite Nautilus.

With that said, I can share what I have heard from others already about why they didn't get 5726:

1) They liked/wanted one of the beautiful blue dials one can get with Nautilus! 5711 5712 5980

2) They were looking for a Nautilus with a date and maybe a moonphase. Month and Day is nice but a not must have. The $10k-$20k extra for the 5726 is not worth it vs other SS models with the date.

3) The 5726 on strap is close to and on bracelet MORE expensive than the rose gold Nautilus 5712R. Once you are spending $40K get the rose gold Patek. I mean hello.

Obviously I still love the 5726, but this is what I have heard. Look forward to hearing others.

It is a sought after watch just like any other steel Nautilus but not as much as the 5711 or 5712. I wonder whether a blue dial will make the 5726 more sought after than the 5712

I can't talk you out of this. It was my first PP. For me, it checked a lot of boxes, PP, Nautilus, AC, Moon phase. I absolutely love mine. My plan was to buy it and a 5712R later. I did do just that. Now, on hind sight, I sometimes wish I'd have bought just the 5712 on bracelet and been done with it. But, that's what this obsession is all about. We never are satisfied with what we have.

Pros:
Who doesn’t like an AC and moonphase?

Cons:
That stupid, ‘bloody' am/pm sub-dial crap which overlaps the central pinion of the main hands, and cut into by the date window and its surround.

And don’t get me started on the 5980’s chronograph either!

I never got the impression the 5726 was a polarizing watch. It may not be as popular as the other Nautilus, but it appeals to a group of people who appreciates the Annual Calendar as a complication.

Most people associate the AC with a dress watch and it certainly makes sense as Patek came out with the first AC (reference 5035) ~20 years ago, when they patented the complication.

Whether you like the sporty 5726 AC or the dressier 5396 AC, with essentially the same dial layout but in a PM case and leather strap, they are both nice elegant watches. Get the watch if it sings to you. However with any watch, there will be people who love it and others who will be lukewarm and others who will want to criticize it for various reasons.

Same here, however the white dial version makes it much more interesting.

I find nothing wrong with the 5726. Get one if you can find one.

I think it probably would...

I really like the size and thickness of this watch.

In a glance the 5726 is spectacular, but on closer inspection the 24h indicator is fairly useless, and overlapped into the date window which bothered me.

Actually, the 24 hr dial is helpful when setting to ensure proper AM / PM. I would agree that it does interfere with the date, but I can't see the AC function anyway without my reading glasses!

I have the 5726 silver white dial , it is gorgeous, it is a sport/dress watch ,
I also have the 5712/a , aquanaut 5164 & the 5146p ..
I love the 5726 , the ac complication , the balanced dial , the silver white dial is amazing , the moon phase adds beauty ( not much of use for some ) , water resistance 120 m , it take more time on my wrist then the others , in brief if I had to keep only one nautilus, I will keep the 5726/1a-010 ...
You have to try it live , buy what speaks to u , the photos is sometimes misleading, best of luck

I love the 5726 - the assymetry of the 5712 drives me nuts. But I'd like to see what a 5726 with a blue dial looks like.

From what I understand, the 24 hour indicator is intended to make setting the annual calendar easy, because it is recommended to be adjusted when the time is set to 6am. Aside from that, it's a useless feature - Who doesn't know if it is morning or night?

a buddy of mine had a problem with the day of the week and the month letters not lining up. He's OCD and ended up returning it.

Yes, I never much liked it in pics but in the flesh it is a tight piece, I do feel PP have messed with them in not giving it the signature Nautilus blue dial option, think this would have helped sales immensely and across all colours.

Love mine.

Have 3 different straps that can dress it up or down or sporty.
I love the AC and find it useful for daily wear.

Love it on bracelet, but not so much on strap. The first pic posted on this thread is just insanely beautiful. I don't own one, though.

I think this is my favorite Nautilus version, particularly with the white dial. The dial is very symmetrical, and VERY legible with the black markers on white background. Really nice watch. And it's nice to have the 24 hour sundial - when you pick up the watch to set it, you know whether it is AM or PM, rather than having to experiment.

Gray on gator strap is top shelf. Can't stand the nautilus bracelet. Looks so $60 Fossil.

Best looking steel nautilus imo.

The white comes only on bracelet the grey comes strap or bracelet, not one comes only on strap

More sought than 5712 not sure, with the 11/12 models you have the ultra thin case and bracelet, but going to blue would give it more appeal, since I sold my grey on strap, always thought if they make a blue on bracelet I would get it

love my 5726/1a and in fact it gets the most wrist time because it is so versatile. i wanted an 5990 so badly for its travel time function but when i tried on one at my AD, didn't take long to realize the thickness and weight is perfect with 5726(found 5990 too thick for me). day date very useful, moonphase fun to have, 24h small dial useless but it makes the dial look nicer overall having the moonphase surrounded. I don't see why its hand would block the date window, instead the latter actually sits on top of the sub dial and covers part of it.

my HK AD said he had not received any grey dial on bracelet in entire 2016, making it less than 5711.

Agree if there is a blue 5726 many will not need to hesistate at all. but I will just take what's available and enjoy.
