Going for gold

So I've decided I'm definitely going for a gold sports Rolex now, I'm really caught between a gold sub black face and a gold GMT 2 green face. I think at this stage I like the GMT 2 more but I've always struggled with the GMT over fussy bezel! I need your thoughts on this one.

The YG GMT II with the green dial is my grail watch.

No bad choice but as you've already mentioned you don't like the GMT bezel I would go for the Submariner.

I personally wouldn't spend around £25k on a watch if I had any doubts.

Good luck

From the two you have mentioned I prefer the GMT with the green face.

I recently flipped mines after owning for several years. It really POPs from a distance. That green dial on the YG really stands out. People will take notice.

It was a fun watch, I just needed a change. May get it again down the road.

The Black dial is very nice also, it's probably more versatile than the green dial. But I like watches that stand out. Why pay all that money to blend in...LOL!

I have owned both and prefer the Submariner. The bezel on the Sub is less busy and the Submariner has the Glidelock bracelet. In the pre-owned market, if all is equal, the Sub also appears to hold its value a little better.

I'm fortunate enough to have both of these pieces. I really like both and flip flop between them as far as favorites go. I sometimes wish I had the black dial GMT and the LB sub, but the one thing I've always seen with this hobby is I always seem to want what I don't have.

You've honestly narrowed it down to the 2 best in my opinion. I would go for the black, but only because I can never justify a GMT over a sub. My suggestion would be the green GMT though, if you like both equally.

It may be hard in the UK, but I would suggest trying to find a dealer with both in stock so you can see them side by side.

I'm the same as you, find the bezel too busy on the GMT, so I vote Sub.

You guys never make things easy! Quite a mixed bag, as everyone says it a great problem to have, issue is I've seen both once in real life but there's no chance of being together in the same place it seems, memory and pics just isn't the same as side by side in real time. At least it's a toss up 100% between those 2 so I can take my time and really give it some thought.

If it bothers you.......and until you have both pieces side by side you may not realise it.......the lugs on the sub are much more prominent, and to me anyways, very annoying.

I think it is a tossup between the two. Both are great looking watches.

Decide on the model first then the material. Sounds like you're more a Sub guy so that's what I'd get. Just have to decide between the LB and LN models.

Same here, and it's not even having to own one, as soon as I settle on a watch to buy, suddenly I go off it a bit and want another, and then something else comes into my mind or a previously dismissed one comes back into play. So weird. That's why I always take my time and hope to go thru 2/3 mind changes before buying, which is always better than after.

As for these two, I owned a Gold GMTc and Subc, and I too prefer the more subtle bezel numbers of the Sub and the cleaner dial, as these watches already have a lot going on, altho I did enjoy using the GMT function.

To see them together your best bet is Watchfinder, they have a few stores now and can send them to your nearest.

OP, you sound just like me. Those are my two fav YG pieces and am equally torn for the same reasons you mention. I don't think I can be of any help since I am undecided as well....

I would just suggest trying both on multiple times, take pictures and just tune everything out and decide which one sings louder.

Please let us know what you go with....

Can't go wrong either way but my vote would be for the sub. I have the two tone sub c with the black face and love it!

I'm not really a black and gold kinda guy. Reminds me too much of a bumble bee or yellow jack. Sorry! I do think the gold Sub with the blue dial is really nice looking. More casual than the DD, and I think that casual nature makes it look less "bold" if that makes sense.
