Follow the stock market lately? That should temporarily make you stop searching.

We're all crazy as bedbugs. The "one" Grail we moved heaven and earth as well as untold sums of money to find is no longer the Grail. Once owned, the Grail shine is gone. AAAARRRG

All the advice above is spot on. What I can add after 20 years of owning Rolex only, is that find the perfect watch for you and then the quest can stop! In the last 8 years I’ve bought and sold half a dozen, modern and vintage. Luckily, due to the market I was able to flip each at a profit. I bought a Panerai a couple of years ago and now own 2 Omega, a Seamaster 300mc and Tritium Speedmaster which satisfies my vintage urge. These are less valuable than many I’ve had, but they all get worn and enjoyed. Right now, nothing would change that. Plus they are all great ‘strap’ watches; far less costly than buying more watches! If my financial situation changes, the only addition would be a vintage Submariner.

To be clear, I don't value watches over more important things. But from the hobby perspective it is getting mentally rigorous to "perfect the collection" - feels like a neverending pursuit and i'm not sure the destination is real. I guess the journey is supposed to be fun but i wind up regretting pieces I moved and then wanting them back again - and that's not really fun!
It is a constant pursuit. And if you’re having fun then fire away. You get satisfied at some point and start slowing down.

when you stop looking at them, then you will stop searching for them.

Indeed. Pointless to resist an endless cycle.

This is easy. If Rolex is heroin, I’ve switched over the amazing other cheaper Brands (Oris, Omega, etc), which have served as methadone. They’ve tapered my Rolex usage significantly though I have the occasional relapse.

Just be grateful you're not posting this on the Richard Mille forum. Then you would really be in trouble.
