I'm with you in the Aquanaut being my favourite. Owned both the 5711 blue and Aquanaut 5167. Sold my 5711 as the Aquanaut was getting most of my wrist time. I was thinking about the 5164 but I like simplicity and the clean unassuming look of the 5167. But more than anything, the fact that you're in a position to do so speaks volumes of how lucky and blessed you are. Good luck with your decision.

dial

I think the dial is the star with the 5167.
The 5164 is lovely but the complications break up the subtle lines on the dial
which allows the 5167 to change appearance in different light conditions.
If you had a big wrist or travelled a lot I could see the attraction though..

I wouldn't but I would upgrade to RG, it is a real beauty in RG, and I am not a gold fan, it's my only gold watch but glad to have it, it is still very casual and discrete but with a wow factor that you don't get on the SS models. But if to answer your question I would not upgrade from 5167 to 5164, except if to get the 5164R which is stunning as well

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that some (including myself) would consider upgrading their 5167 to either of the RG Aquanaut versions IF the dial and associated rubber strap were not brown. I just just can't get over the brown and that strap looks like crap....literally.

The brown dial works best with RG but the brown strap isn't that great but then easily replaced.

When I don't have the pin for my 5712 I just advance the time for the date to advance, of course I do it if it is a little, just a few days, not if we are talking 10 or more days

Lol, I quite like the brown dial and strap, looks exactly like the SS except dark brown, and it works better with RG, anyways tastes are different, I can appreciate the SS Aquanauts for what they are, very casual under the radar Pateks, but I couldn't imagine getting one, love the RG models, the SS not so much

Oh that will be interesting to see live pics, I love blue but am sticking with my RG, it's cool to wear a gold watch that doesn't bring any unwanted attention, in fact no attention at all, and suits me fine like that

Guys. I think I F*cked up. I've never actually seen a 5164 on the flesh, just pictures. I've decided I'd keep my 5167 a few weeks ago. And today I made the mistake to visit an AD that had the 5164 on display. Well long story short, I tried it on and I looooooved it. Damn damn damn.

Good thing they were asking $34k for it with no discount. Otherwise I don't know what would've happened.

Now I have to come up with ideas of why the 5164 sucks snd the 5167 is the better choice.

I need rehab.

I fell in love with the 5167 via forums and pictures etc. When I visited a London grey dealer specifically to see this watch with my own eyes they also had the 5164 which I previously dismissed. They were side by side but all I did was stare at the 5164

Once my 5711 arrives I had planned to sell my ND Sub and add cash for the 5167

Now im tempted to sell the ND Sub and my 116520 Daytona and add cash for the 5164 - however not sure what to do to be honest - sacrificing 2 might be something I regret!!

I would do it because you have the 5711 already and other than the chrono, you basically have time and date only. Go for it!!!

I think your blue 5711, white ceramic Daytona, and a 5164 would make a perfect sports watch trio...3 different dial colors, three different functions, etc.

This would be my perfect trio however I think I would still need a Sub for the rough days / beater

A good problem to have. I don't like the 5164, too cluttered and I feel hides the dial too much. The dial is the best part of the watch and should be shown off and the way the date is set up hides it. Believe that less is more between these two
