Nice watch, but BS sales tactic.

The sales person is indeed talking BS - however it's clear you like the Blue dial YM but have this need to think the YM is rare and sought after to give you the strong residual value you crave - which is a pity, it's a stunning watch but if that really is your biggest concern then you had better get a SubC or steel Daytona.

As mentioned in previous threads, I work at an AD as their timepiece specialist. I have never stretched the truth or lied to convince someone to make a sale. I give them all the information they need to know to make an informed decision and nothing more. My customers know that steel Daytonas aren't a limited edition, on the other hand I can't call Rolex and order 10 of them and expect them all to arrive pronto. They know that there's always a potential for a price increase but only once in the last couple decades has Rolex actually informed their ADs of when exactly it would be. They know that the wholesale to retail margins have been decreased quite a bit over the last few years so they shouldn't expect to get as large of discounts they may have received in the past.

Our store and I personally do very well with Rolex sales.

@southtexas... What made you decide to flip the YM?

I was just tired of it. I bought it when it was first released and, after owning it for a while, I realized I just didn't love it. I liked the blue dial but just didn't dig the watch anymore. I've gotten a few vintages since I bought the YM and have fallen in love with them; I think they have loads more character. It's certainly a stunning watch, but not my type of stunning.
