Some advice please?

I have one of the last production Omega Planet Ocean's XL Seamaster's, the 45.5mm one. It has the Swiss ETA movement prior to the in house movement. Stainless steel band. I just had it serviced for it's physical. Hardely wore it other than 2 dozen times if that, and just recieved an additional 2 year warrenty upon getting it back from the service center. The watch was a safe queen and is in outstanding condition. The only problem is that my wrist is 7.5" and it seems the older I become the less of an attraction to large watches I get. So here is the question. I have a very reputable jewelry store that will take the Omega speedmaster and take $1,000.00 cash from me for exchange of a brand new Tudor Heritage Black Bay on a stainless steel band. I mean I love the Tudor and am just torn over me having to spend an additional 1k but I am usually one that goes with what I feel, and believe me I have a list of F _ _ K up's because of this thinking pattern. Do you think that this is a fair exchange or should I just scrap the whole idea. Please let me know what you think, I do know that grabbing 3k for the PO will be kind of hard I have been watching ebay lately and it is no easy thing with the economy and all right now. But I would like to get the Tudor within the next month otherwise the funds might find somewhere else to settle. Please help me Guys and Gals.

I would do it, provided it won't pose a financial hardship. You
probably could get a bit more for your PO if you sold it privately, but that can be a hassle and likely will take longer than doing the trade-in. That's a business decision only you can make. As a community of Rolex enablers, IMHO, it will be a rare person here who would prefer a modern day Omega to a Tudor. Good luck!

I would keep the Omega
then ... save my money and buy a slightly used Tudor Heritage Black Bay

I love my Planet Ocean, 42 mm, aesthetically unsurpassed among dive watches, in my opinion. It doesn't get my wrist time much anymore, but I really like it, hard to give it up, and never for a Tudor.

While the PO is a nice watch, I don't think it has the cache of a moon watch. Therefore, I would rather have the Tudor. Additionally, it seems to me that the QC of Omega is not comparable to Rolex standards.

I understand your thinking and it makes sense to me, if you don't wear the PO then it does you no good. I am thinking of selling 3 Omegas to fund a Rolex, so I know your pain. The Black Bay is a beautiful watch.

Over at Omegaforums there are two PO 45.5s for sale, one at $3,400 and one at $2,600. If you factor in profit for the dealer and wholesale of your watch to another dealer it is not a bad deal for either of you.

id go for it ,,, if your not wearing it ,,, time to go ,,, plus the service and warranty wont be getting any fresher ,,,, good time to trade.
but , you know your financial status , so ,,, think then move if it suits.

Can you keep the Omega for your weekend watch? That is basically done with my Breitling. With that being said, I firmly believe that a watch that gets very little wrist time, should be traded for one that will be worn and enjoyed.

No way, and especially not for a Tudor.

I've recently become a fan of Omega watches, to the point where I'm questioning the comparative value of Rolex, to say nothing of Tudor.

For example, compare an Omega Aqua Terra to an Explorer 1 - the movement, the clear caseback, the date, the teak dial - and the Explorer comes off very badly.

Or, look at the new blue Seamaster 300M Diver - MSRP of the chronograph/date version is 6k, against the SubC's 8.5K for a date alone.

So save for the BB (new or used) if you want one, but I'd never sell an Omega to fund it.

WoW, all pros and cons. I guess this time I will do some serious thinking and weigh out the situation. Love that Omega but it seems to keep getting bigger on my wrist, and I know that my love for the Tudor Black Bay will not be going away any time soon either. Well you guys were helpful and I thank you all. Wish me luck
