Rolex Submariner 16800 from 1982 Dial Question
Hello,
Quick question. Did the Rolex Submariner 16800 from 1982 ever come with the white gold around the lumes? I've seen some with and some without... Am I led to believe that the ones with the white gold are replacement dials? Or did the 16800 from 1982 also come with the white gold option? Thank you in advanced for your help. Josh |

1982 is without white gold. White gold starts around 86 with 168000.

White gold surrounds began with later versions of the 16800, before the 168000 came out. The only difference between the 16800 and 168000 by that transition was the upgraded stainless steel used for the case for the latter.

If a -82 has gold surrounds it's most likely a service dial.
