Rolex airking date 5700

I am buying my first Rolex watch (presently I only own Omegas). I like vintage very much so I have been trying to get something from around the 1980s. I have come across a Rolex KingAir Date but I don't know if the watch is authentic or not. Also, would 1500USD be too much for this model, should I wait an save some more to get something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Air-King Dates are not as common as the non date Air-King. $1500 sounds not too out of hand. A lot depends on condition. My Air-King Date is from '83, is only 34mm, but I wear it as much as I do my Subs. Good luck on your decision.

David, you are confident that the bracelet is real from the poor pic? I don't think he got good advice in either post. The 78350 band is generally a nice band but it's prolifically faked.

Harry,
The clasp is good. Identical to my mid 80's Air King Date.
This particular model is not that well known because it was only sold in Britain and the Commonwealth countries and then not for that many years.
It's a model that I feel will always be interesting and collectable. By the way it also came in a number of variations.
Good luck.
Just to put purchase price in perspective, I recently spent 1200.00+ getting mine refurbished by Rolex Canada.
