Another Ridley resurrection
There are times in life that one must put aside concerns with financial value and wisdom (or lack thereof) of investment and just enjoy the moment.
One such moment occurred to me about an hour ago when my Ridley resurrected model 6564 cal. 1560 Rolex arrived from its Arlington, Texas rehab center. Bob Ridley's affable son Phillip performed the renovation on a watch that had suffered decades of internal neglect and the cosmetic horrors of a badly refinished dial and incorrect hand replacement. (I admit, it was a hastily executed and foolish eBay purchase that expensively taught me to do duly diligent research FIRST, but never mind). Well, Phil has made it new with an expertly renewed dial, very extensive overhaul with an exhaustive list of new parts and the justly lauded Ridley "enhancement" of case and bracelet. Embarrassment and fear of nay-saying prevent me from quoting the price of this artistry (plus, naturally, my hastily met original purchase price), but the total was substantial. Worth it? Well, now that it's on my wrist -- yes, indeed! The posted photos are from Phil as he finished the project. It looks even better on its original stretch, riveted Oyster bracelet. So, while I have learned a lot through this costly experience, I heartily applaud Phil Ridley, his dad, Bob, and the indispensable Jana at Watchmakers International, Inc. for their efforts in putting right an ill-conceived purchase. I'm a happy guy! Craig Washington, DC |

I remember your earlier post about this purchase and I'm glad it worked out well for you in the end.

Yes, I remember your angst laden original post. :) You can always make more dollars but that is the only watch like that one in the world and there'll never be another. You'll always have a very personal connection to that one.
Enjoy it! what happened to the other one? |

My question would be...how did a 6564 get a 1530 in it?
6564 utilizes a 1030 mvt. Maybe the original post has reference to this discrepancy? |

Wat happened to the 1002 you sent, or were going to send, to BR?

As for the fit...eeeyeah...sort of...but it's not right and never came that way. There was a long discussion about a certain 6538 that had a 15xx series movement and I believe the dubious term was that the case had seen some "careful pushing". :-/ The inner groove that the different style case retainers and screws fit in was too wide and had to be bent to make the 15xx series tighten up. |

Pre-refurb photo
So, here's a photo of the mystery watch in question prior to its trip to Arlington, Texas. Phil Ridley didn't question the case vs. movement combination. (But then, I didn't ask).
I do have another watch on its way to the Ridleys. It's also pictured. I'll probably sell one or the other at some point. The trick will be to decide which one to keep. (Okay, I might keep both). Craig Washington, DC |

They're cool watches and they did a nice resurrection.
Are you sure you don't have the references switched or is that what both the case frame and case back actually say? |
