You never really miss something till it's gone...Gold Sub

I put up the Solid Yellow Gold Smurf up for sale! Yes, it's true and it's currently for sale here on TRF... I did it up real nice, with all the pictures, (taken with Iphone lol) and boxes and accessories.

Then hours later, and a number of communications and offers came thru, and I couldn't bear the thought of anyone else owning, wearing, luving' on my Yellow Gold Smurf...

I mean, It is the Grand-Daddy of all Sub's, along with his brother the WG Smurf.

It is quite comforting, having all that Gold on your wrist and boy it's hard to let go...

Been in that position before Sam, the good news is you can get the YG GMT right after to ease to gold fever.

What made you decide to list it for sale? I thought you finally found the one.

Been there Sam! Sometimes you need to put it on the market to remember how much you love it

The 116618 is a great watch and I have owned at least three of them over the years. Many times when I decide I am going to sell/flip a watch I have the same reaction as you. The key for me is what am I going to replace it with. The better the replacement(s) the easier it is to let it go. Then I usually go through the "I miss my watch phase". Then I tell myself I made a decision based on what I wanted to do and all is better. I will also buy a watch back in a heart beat. If not the same watch then a similar watch. It is all fun and as long as I don't lose a lot of money, all is good.

Last thing I'd do after hitting the lotto is sell that 116618! Maybe buy a few more, but definitely not sell!

OK, I'm a little confused, Sam. Why did you put it up for sale in the first place?

When I stumbled across you ad in the classifieds, I gasped. I didn't know what to think...had she somehow offended you in some way?

Regardless, I think this is a wise move, as Mike said. There's not a lot of choices out there, IMO, you can replace that beauty with and get the same effect.

I am the same. Finally calming down and pretty now that I've "been around the block" a number of years and have tried out many things this way.

Fortunately when I look at what I have now, no desire to list any of them for anything else. Certainly more watches I'd love to have, but not at the cost of those already owned.

Sam: Glad to hear you "saw the light." Guess I missed your listing in my browsing, but was shocked to read your post above that you had done so. Wear in good health!

Fortunately, the previous owner, a captain in the military, was on a covert mission in the DMZ and while low-crawling on patrol, he happened across a fox hole. A fight ensued and an explosive devise went off. A piece of shrapnel hit his camo watch cover and when he went to see his Rolex, specifically his PIP saved him from a terrible wound.

He never fixed it to remind him how precious his Gold SubMariner is...

And, of course I now tell his story, and will never fix it.
