Post why, when commenting on fakes...

Hello, just a suggestion...

I'm no rolex expert and unfortunately cannot spot a fake as quickly as some folks on this site. So when commenting on fakes here, can everyone post what specifically jumps out, so the rest of us can learn from your wisdom?

I've seen a lot of posts that simply say "fake," "don't buy," or "terrible," etc. Those responses are helpful, but don't educate the inexperienced rolex person. Anyway, just my two cents.

Thank you in advance!

The best way to learn, is like most of us here did; educate yourself. The web is full of literally hundreds of thousands of photos and websites dedicated to the brand, not to mention TRF. There are no shortcuts. Makes it too easy for the counterfeiters to refine their fakes if we spell it out for them.

It's usually the new members with low post counts that ask us to specify exactly what the signs are that point to counterfeit.

No thanks. This is not a forum to educate counterfeiters.

Yes, as I said, I now understand why folks don't comment here. Thanks.

I'm a nobody and hate to involve myself, but your own moderator Lol-x says to post:

• Reasons for your concern of authenticity or issues with the item.

That sounds pretty clear to me.

Im not sure if this the right place to ask but here goes... Why is it that so many posts latley by first time posters are "is this real"? It seems that so many who ask these questions have never posted a thing before. To be fair, I may be wrong Adam certainly open to being corrected!

As others have alluded to... if someone with 4 posts asks a questions about a Rolex that was their grandfather's that they found in a drawer after he died... that person is probably going to get a one word answer.

If someone who had established themselves as a real part of the community asks a question... they're most likely going to get a more educated response pointing out the areas of concern.

This has at least been my observation and the few times I've asked for help the gang has been very helpful.

You're right, I didn't see another line where he says "without going into much detail."
