Contemplating my first Patek

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

As the title indicates, I am looking to buy my first Patek Philippe and have settled on a 5711. The particular one I am looking at right now comes with everything that you would get with a new purchase. However, as evident from the pictures, it has a few scratches on the bezel. Since I have always been into collecting vintage Rolex, I would appreciate your opinions about the said scratches.

Any other insights would also be infinitely appreciated.

This however is not, correct? Seems concordant with the general asking price for a 5711

$30k for a scratched watch? Too high.

I understand it is against the policy to ask for valuations. But what kind of price hit does the watch take? Scratches were not that big an issue with vintage Rolex, I have thus not much of an idea.

Won't say valuations but please don't buy a 5711 with scratches for ~30k

As far as I have read, the bezels on this and the AP RO get scratched pretty easily. So they are coming anyway. Would it be an agreeable deal if the price was reduced by 1-2k $?

With the 5711 if you want it bad enough you got to pay to play. Not many in private hands (not dealers) circulating and even if one surfaced there will be enough people willing to pay a premium or the seller is not willing to budge. It is what it is.

Better deal might be to buy a new one from DavidSW or Takuya. Add 2K$ and you don't have to worry about the condition

My location is a problem. Right now I am in India and having it shipped here is not a possibility due to Customs. Would you take the above one for 28k or a BNIB for ~31?

25K is fair for this watch. Unless PP is just not delivering at all at the moment. Frankly the scratches are not bad at all. Wear one a few days and look at the bezel if your not hard wired to protect the watch at every move. Everything that touches that bezel leaves a mark.

The price is more or less in line with the market. About 6-12 months ago these could be had for around$25-26k unworn, however Patek had dialed down on production and it's showing.

You also have the option of popping into an AD and asking to be put on a list. Sometimes theyll call you earlier if the people ahead of you pass or can't be reached (yes people do pass on 5711s.) Depends on how long you want to wait.

My thoughts exactly. The watch is going to get scratched unless I wrap a pillow around my wrist. I own vintage Daytona, Sub and GMT and don't bother when they get scratched. However, since this is the first time I am buying one with polished links/ finished bezel etc, I was looking for inputs. What I take away from the replies (every one of which I am thankful for), is that 30k is not a commensurate price for the watch in question. Remains to be seen if the seller is flexible with his pricing. I will update the thread.

White dials are sold for some crazy low prices. However, looking to get a blue dial as that's the classic Nautilus color. Thank you
