First AP. Need advice on purchase.

Hello everyone

I'm looking to buy my first AP (Royal oak SS 41mm 15400) here at the AD in Hawaii. I've always loved this watch, but wasn't planning to purchase it on my trip. I happened to come across the AP store at the T Galleria, and they offered me 10% off, and since it's duty and tax free I thought this might be a good deal.

I'm from Canada where we typically have 13% tax as well. I cannot find the MSRP pricing on this in canada, and I'm also looking for advice on whether 10% off is good or not.

Thanks all!!

Takuya has one listed at 13875 I believe. IMO I wouldn't pay more than that...unless it was a blue dial. I'd probably only get the blue dial one anyways but that's just me...I love the blue on this one

Give royal de Versailles a call. I'm sure they will tell you over the phone

10% off is a horrible price on a 15400 white or black in the US. Many dealers will do 20-25% off and shipping between states makes it tax free (not really but they won't charge you ).

Don't pay more than 14k usd all in

Yeah, don't buy like you are living in the UK. Be free.

Thanks for the responses. Wow 20-25% off! That's awesome. And these are authorized dealers?

I might go to the U.K. soon, is it much cheaper there? CAD isn't doing so great with the USD

Also just saw the prices on Takuya. Are these online sites legitimate? I'm just worried about purchasing from non AP authorized dealers.

Several of the guys here are top notch. I've bought a 116613LB, Platona, and AP 15400 from DavidSW. Zero issues.

Thanh Do is a stand up guy you can trust. Bought and sold many pieces from him. That said, yes US ADs will do 25% off if you look around.

Ditto that Tokugawa/ThnDo is a good guy, even if spell check butchers his name...

There is one for sale on Canwatchco from a guy in Vancouver. Good price and no tax of course. As you are in Canada, unless you plan to break the law, duty and currency conversion will kill you going the way of Takuya or David. Watch canwatchco or talk to RDV and see what kind of discount you can get. Watchfinder in Toronto gets them every once and a while will do a good deal. Be patient, it will come.

He died 500 years ago. It's Takuya.
