Is this being polished?

Dear all

This is my first post. I have recently acquired a 16710 Z series in second hand market, but I have no idea if it is being polished or not (bottom left lug looks like it has been polished). Can anyone professional give me some advice?

Thank a lot for the help.

Thank you very much for the replies.

The seller did not give me a direct answer, however in the RSC in HK when I took the watch to have Authenticity check the lady told me the case is being polished a lot. That's why it bothered me.

Though the left bottom lug has a less bevel when compared to other three lugs.

Looks like it's just been worn normally and never polished.

First of all, is it the coke or the pepsi? Or is it the same watch with changed bezel insert? Because the lower left lug of the pepsi looks more unpolished than the lower left lug of the coke. Or it's just the angle of the pictures?

The no-holes case has much less prominent lug bevels than the holes case (from the factory). To my eyes, it seems that it may have been polished a bit more on the lower left, as your lower left bevel seems a bit less obvious than the other three from your pics of the coke. Does it look like that to you, or do all four bevels look similar in person? But overall it doesn't seem to be overly polished. Your lug tips and crown guards also look thick and square(-ish).

Whatever the truth, your watch looks great! So enjoy without thinking about it too much!

This polished stuff is now getting to almost epidemic proportions as long as any watch is polished correctly makes no difference whatsoever to that watch. With service time average around 7-10 years by most it would be 50 years of wearing before anyone could notice any difference as long as its polished correctly.

Looks great as late 16710s did not have the thick bevel edges of the early 16710 series watches.

Again thank you very much for the replies, they are very helpful. It is a born Coke and I bought a Pepsi bezel for it so it is the same watch in same condition.

Yes the bottom left lug bothered me most.

Maybe it is because the comment from the lady from RSC worried me so much.

Cheers

I don't pay too much attention to the ladies in the HK RSC. They are not all experts, and several are quite the opposite, in my experience. Your watch looks fine to me.

Looks pretty sweet either way. I would not get hung up on if it's had a light polish or not.

I agree, But there is a difference in cut & weld and then polish, A lot of people are doing this and being very deceptive about it.

From the photos the bottom left lug certainly appears to have been polished and lost the bevel

It's certainly not over polished. That's what matters, unless you paid some significant premium for a NOS piece, which this clearly isn't.
The case was asymmetric from day 1.
It looks great, enjoy it!

PS the lady probably said that to make you paranoid and make you lean towards a new one. Who wants these "used" old things anyway?

If you hadn't been told it was polished would you have been happy with it or even questioned if it was polished ?. If you were happy before being told it was polished (not known for sure), forget what you were told and enjoy your watch.
FWIW, it looks pretty good whether it was polished or not.

I paid 59k for the watch that comes with full set, and 2.5k for the Pepsi bezel. Amounts are in HKD.

Thank you
