Ah ok fair enough, I've obviously missed previous posts about this and the 5 hrs away part. I will edit previous post accordingly. Thanks for pointing that out.

In my experience a credit card that is flagged as being used for a fraudulent purchase can be unlocked immediately by phone, so that sound a bit suss too.
Me thinks you protesteth too much.

I was prepared to pay a smaller deposit on the day AD called on a different card, it was the AD that said he would put the watch on hold.

Least you got a bit of blue, albeit not from the bezel of your watch to be.

After asking to be on more than one list your number was called up. What's the point of going on a list if you don't have all your ducks lined up? You were "prepared" to put a deposit. You were "looking into" flying. You were able to "drive in 2-3 months". They made it clear they have no interest in chasing you or trying to convince you to buy a watch they have a waiting list for. Or any watch for that matter since you've been removed from the lists.

I am having difficulties digesting the reality of it. Like some of the chaps here said, just when you thought you have heard and seen it all.

Sorry for you. I know the feeling of anticipation when you confidently knew it's gonna be yours just to found out that's not the case.

Rolex want you to buy from ADs not from the grey market and they set high standards for ADs to meet in order to be able to sell Rolex watches and one of these standards is obviously to minimise the amount of watches being bought from ADs to sell on as a profit so it's very understandable to me that ADs do not want to risk Rolex taking away their ability to sell as it is a very powerful brand. Hardly surprising that an AD that knew you recently sold a purchase from them don't want to sell to you again, as they think that you will do this again. In no way I am saying you may do this, but they don't need that risk.

It's not like ADs personally care what you do with the watch afterwards, it's the effect of what you do with that watch, potentially damaging their business and livelihoods. They are only doing what they can to ensure they don't risk losing their ability to sell Rolex watches, so it's not an argument of they are getting their profit anyway, why do they care? But more they are risking the ability to get profit from any Rolex watch in the future. Especially with desirable models, where they can easily sell to someone who hasn't bought a watch from them, sold it and wants them to hang onto it for 2-3 months before buying it.

In the UK it's terrible, I tried to get on the list at WOS in Regent Street in London to be told that I couldn't even get on the list yet they are selling to every grey dealer going and probably taking back handers.

One grey dealer even had the cheek to put it up for sale on instagram while he was still in the shop and Geo Tagged the AD, it takes the absolute p%$$ to be honest but I guess it goes on all the time
