Keep DSSD or get BLNR

Hello guys
I have a DSSD from past 7 years. I bought it new. Now trade up value is around $7500.

I was thinking of changing the look. DSSD is an incredible timepiece, and no other diver watch can replace in Rolex lineup.

Would getting a new BLNR or 'as new' could be a regrettable downgrade?

Help!

Go for it! BLNR is a great watch, so versatile and comfy. I would actually consider DSSD to BLNR an upgrade, not a downgrade.

Hard to say..... I had a DSSD like you for many years. Then flipped it. I have a sub and a few others. Later I missed the beast and had to get the deep blue.

You had a GMT before and obviously miss it. I wish you could keep both. Good luck whatever you decide. No bad choices!

If you have bigger wrists, then absolutely not.

You are used to a wrist presence you won't have anymore. If that's ok go for it.

I don't have big wrists, but I never thought it mattered?

I would 100% make that swap. The DSSD is a great watch but your wrist is too small. I think you will get a much better fit from the BLNR.

It doesn't matter, per se, because anyone can buy whatever they want, but some watches fit different sized wrists better. No?

To my eyes that watch is too big. It's an "in your face" watch no matter what, but it looks a bit larger than I would want. At the end of the day, wear what feels right to you.

Regarding the BLNR, while retail prices may make it feel like a downgrade, pre-loved market prices indicate otherwise. It will take a few days to get used to the size change, but you will, and you will find plenty of wrist presence with the BLNR.

That is hard, it is almost an apples and oranges choice. If your other watches make you happy as far as a diver watch then go for it. If that is your only diver, then keep it.

You have a point.

Now that I look at my own photo, it does seem big.

I would keep it and get the BLNR as another watch. If you can't....i would just stay with the beast

Definitely apples to oranges.. I own both and they both check different boxes. Go try on the BLNR and decide. Very different watches.

No way! Going from Rolex's premium diver to a gmt is a big step down. You lose the glide lock, dome crystal, and in my opinion looks! Muscle car to sporty cruiser.

Not only the wrist, I think hand size matter even more .

In your case I think GMT or same sized models like SUB and SD4k will look better on YOU. It's up to you though. Good luck

That DSSD looks absolutely gigantic on you! Personally I think the DSSD is too much watch unless you have huge wrists. It would certainly be a big change that would take some getting used to but I think the BLNR would suit you better. Don't think of it as a downgrade just because the MSRP is lower.

If anything the fact that it is a sought after piece despite being accessibly priced is an indication of how special it is. There's just something about the BLNR that makes it fit in in a variety of occasions.

I have both. Given the choice, I will get rid of DSSD.

I would totally go for the BLNR over the DSSD. That said I think the DSSD is way too thick for my tastes.

It is funny because of my wrist size and owning the YM2, I'm now in the market for a DSSD

x2 in this. But, go try the BLNR or even the LN on to see how it looks/feels on your wrist. One of two things will happen. You will decide it doesn't have enough presence for you, or you will think it's perfect. There are times when I wear my LN, I think the DSSD Blue is too big. Then I put the DSSD Blue on and slap myself a few times for thinking such blasphemy lol.

If you like the touch of blue, I vote for flipping towards the DSSD Blue. It's the best of both worlds in my mind.

Keep DSSD or get BLNR

If you were my friend and we were at an AD and you tried on the DSSD, I would tell you it is too big for you and persuade you to buy a Sub or GMT instead.

It doesn't matter of course but indeed that watch is big for your wrist. I believe if getting the BLNR or any Sub-C you will be happy feeling comfie and you will never go back to the DSSD. I had the DSSD and tried the Sub, loved it but at the end went for the SD4K just as I felt I need some presence on my wrist... Bear in mind that polished mid links are easy to get small wear marks so if your lifestyle includes some sports etc maybe you should think twice due to the fact.. good luck!

Totally agreed...

You had the Dssd for 7 years and all this while its size doesn't matter and I dont see why it is right now. Like you said, you just need a change in look. Is there any other Rolexes or watches in rotation with your Dssd? That could give a better view and suggestions.

If this is your only piece, I would keep the Dssd and add another piece to rotate it. If that's not possible, get something that brings that smile back again like how the Dssd did 7 years ago...

Edit* just noticed your signature you have a Seamaster as well. Rather use the seamaster and trade it for something else and keep the Dssd.

Don't get caught up in how the watch looks in a photo. If it looks right in real life, that's what matters. Phone cameras have wide angle lenses that can significantly distort the appearance of size of a watch on the wrist.

IMO, if the DSSD looks/feels right in real life and you fancy a change, trade it in for a D-Blue, which gives you that splash of colour without losing the essence of a watch you clearly love.
