Gents Rolex Submariner "Palma de Mallorca" in stainless steel
Hello all. I was looking at Gray and Son Jewelers online today, and saw they have advertised on their website a 2014 BNIB Gents Rolex Submariner "Palma de Mallorca" in stainless steel. They are selling it for $11,900 US. Has anyone heard the significance of this watch. I spent a few min trying to investigate, and came up with nothing. Can someone please explain. And BTW I have noticed the different face and engraving on the back.

Its true. Produced by Rolex to celebrate a famous AD in Mallorca.
It should come with a letter from Rolex. I think the ADs name is Relojerķa Alemana. |

I'd rather have one with a regular case back......and pay less for the privilege.
Next they'll be engraving Shag-a-loof.....sorry, I meant Magaloof on the back. |

Sea-king
If an in-house customization of the dial isn't part of the price, then there is only 1 direction that price is going.

German Watch Store/Boutique 1879-2014. I don't know if that engraving is factory or not. Who knows?
edit: Just saw post above. It is real. If you're interested I would go for it. Definitely unique.

Never heard of that AD, so I find no significance in that caseback, especially at that price.

If I may add. Pictures are stolen from another forum. Watch does not belong to me. I am just sharing. Hell, I don't even understands Spanish.
According to the owner of this watch. He bought it when was holidaying in Spain back is 2015. That's all I have. If the owner is reading this, sorry for using your pictures without your permission. Let me know if you want me to remove them. Thanks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I'd pay less than retail for that unless I was related to these folks.

Thanks for sharing, I learned something new today.
I like the fact that Rolex celebrated an AD which has been in business for over 100 years and did this special edition engraving. I don't desire one but if I were spaniard or had a connection with Majorca I maybe would have liked to have one.

Rolex does that from time to time.
Years ago a mexican AD (Pereylongue) celebrated their 40th Anniversary with 40 SS Daytonas with an engraved back, a regular back was supplied as well. It was a sight to see all of them together in the display case the day of the celebration.

I for one am impressed with how long its been in business and very disappointed at all the negative comments here about the watch and the history behind it. They paid their dues and sell the best of the best watches in horology.

I've actually been in the AD a few times, it's a wonderful place with a good selection and very friendly staff. I brought a piece from them in 2005 and was so pleased with the service. Sadly, with the GBP to EUR exchange rate it's made it very hard for me to justify the extra costs to travel back and pick up pieces.
A lot of people seem to have a downer about Rolex making this piece but I think it's a wonderful idea and a very nice touch. I wouldn't say I see the Watch becoming a must have for collectors and pushing the price up but it's still a nice item with a nice twist and story. If I didn't have a sub I'd definitely be interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Gents Rolex Submariner "Palma de Mallorca" in stainless steel
The Alemana part means German, and as such I would not be wanting anything to do with that watch as it is not my country of birth. For German/Spanish Wis it may have a special place and be interesting to collect and they may be prepared to pay a premium.
If it had the US, England, Scotland etc on the back in some form and with a link to the 1800's which is cool, I could see there being more interest on the forum. |
