Congrats and thanks for sharing. That doesn't look small in the picture but if you think it is and aren't happy I like the idea of giving it to your wife that has been suggested.

Great story! Great watches! Letting the wife take the OP would be a possible option.

When use to a 39-40 mm watch it is hard to wrap your mind around a 36mm but when I see one on others they always look normal and fine in my mind. I would save the OP for those occasions when I want classic understated elegance it might even be the watch to try a dressy strap on.

I think the OP looks great.

I come from the opposite end of the spectrum. I owned a Date for 30 years. My wrist is a touch smaller than yours. I like size of the Date on my wrist. When I bought my first 40 I felt as though I looked like a rap artist wearing one of those hideous, blingy watches you see on the videos. I got over it.

Cool story

I think the 36 mm looks great on you and you should wear it (if you like it that is.) I don't think it looks too small at all

I understand your reservations on the size aspect tbh.

As others have said your wife would look great wearing that watch.

Happy wife happy life.

Great story, congrats on your marriage and keep the OP - it looks good on your wrist but if you still have doubts, then follow the advice of your fellow TRFers and give it to your wife!

Photos can be deceiving, because watches tend to look bigger than they do in reality . But from your nice photos, I would go for the 36mm, which looks excellent . As for giving it to your wife , I gave my partner my Rolex Prince in white gold. She is only 5ft, but it looks fine. Sometimes I wish it was still mine, but there's no going back.
Anyway, good hunting. But careful with the hobby, my partner now takes pictures of interesting Rolex displays...she likes the platinum models!....and now has a Rolex, Cartier, vintage Zenith, Nomos...and a watch box. She also likes her original, cheap, Seiko. Dangerous hobby.

Congratulations, great story and get over it!!! It's a watch ment to be worn and it looks great! Wear it a day or 2 and then you will realize that those couple of mm really don't make that big a difference in casual wear and are SOOOO much more comfortable under a cuff. I just sent off the $$$ to buy a 3rd 36mm watch and I have slightly larger wrists (7.5) and am bigger (6' 205lbs.) Trust me, once you go there for a few days you will fill silly that you were ever worried about it.

To know the future is to be trapped by it

Nice story and pictures. I think you have two good watches that make you smile. A third which you went down the wrong road with and refuse to acknowledge. I would find a watch that made me happy and do a trade. To just keep a watch that you do not wear is just holding funds in limbo. The new Tudor Chrono or Tag Autavia would be a good swap.

Thank you all! Great to see my story have been enjoyed.

I have tried to pass the OP off to the misses, but she insists she's not a watch person and would want something full gold if she was to wear something. The reality is that she's holding out for a Cartier Love Bracelet anyway

Based on the feedback I have decided to give the OP a second shot at life again. The golden yellow sunburst dial is mesmerizing and i'm sure once it gets a few hours on the wrist it will feel right at home.

Congrats to the happy couple. FWIW, I think that 36mm OP looks perfectly fine on your wrist.

That OP is just perfect. Wear it and enjoy it, 36mm is a men's size no matter what others might say.
